Wealthy Affiliate Is Not a Get-Rich-Slow Scheme
We all know that Wealthy Affiliate isn't a get-rich-quick scheme.
You know the ones I mean.
The ones that promise instant wealth (one of our beta testers made $2,947 on their very first day) by the press of a magic button which utilizes a previously unknown loophole that they are amazingly willing to let you have for only $17. How good is that?
Unless you're new to online business and unfortunately naïve, you'll recognize these as scams. If you click on the link but don't buy the product, you will likely be offered an immediate discount. If you do buy the product (with or without the discount) you'll find yourself in the rabbit warren of an upsell funnel, where you'll be offered one thing after another, all designed to make the original product work better. Some in fact will seem essential to making it work properly. The upsell pages are written using hypnotic marketing. They are designed to appeal to your FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and to make you feel that you would be a fool not to buy them.
The product will be sufficiently complex to use that you will feel that it's your own technical incompetence that's the problem here.
They are just hoping that you will persevere beyond the refund period so that they keep whatever you've spent.
If you haven't taken the upsells, you will probably get emails saying that they've kept them available just for you.
While Wealthy Affiliate isn't a get-rich-quick scheme, it's not a get-rich-slow one either.
What it does recognize is that building a long-term, viable business takes time and effort.
In that sense, an online business is no different from a bricks and mortar business.
You have to put time into both, but the big difference comes in the cost.
A bricks and mortar business is VERY costly to set up. You have to find premises, pay a deposit, commit to a lease, buy equipment, hire staff etc. etc. In contrast, for an online business, you only need a domain name and a web host to get going.
Wealthy Affiliate provides both of those things, and it's not even the main thrust of their model.
Because the other thing and in fact the main thing that you need is training.
To learn how to build your website(s) and then how to monetize them.

Thank you for your blog post, I hope you're doing well.
Your first paragraphs remind me of the early days and how I was desperate to try and learn how to make money online. I could see the power of the Internet but didn't know how to implement the process.
I can remember buying into some of those programs in the early days back in 2004! For just £17, but then all the up sales started coming and of course, the system did not work!
If only I had found Wealthy Affiliate back then it would have saved me loads of money and time!
As you mention, Wealthy Affiliate is not a quick get rich scheme, it is a genuine platform to teach you how to create a successful online business. The great thing is that we have everything in one place to become successful.
Sadly I see a few members jumping around asking if other platforms are better. All this does is bring confusion and complications. We have everything we need right here to start a successful online business. I believe that you have proved this Phil, big-time!

That's one of the big advantages of Wealthy Affiliate. Newbies here have the huge advantage of the experience of other members to draw on. Newbies without that are more likely to fall prey to scammers.

That's one of the main things I love about WA - that it is honest in it's approach and doesn't lie and mislead and scam people.
Unlike many other companies and people that are basically digital whores - or what I call Guru Garbage People.
That makes WA one of the BEST possible places for people to get started and get initial training and support - and then for those who excel it remains a great place to recruit/refer/ mentor and coach other people too.
You and I also have some of the same interests. Every day I get up and do at least 100 crunches and 25 to 50 pushups and stretch.
I eat a cross between Keto and Paleo (more Keto) and avoid bread and refined sugars, and limit the quantity of food I eat too. As a result I remain a stable 60 pounds lighter than I once was, and even though I am 57 I can outwork most 20 year olds.

I totally second everything that you've said in this comment. Wealthy Affiliate is the number one training platform for anyone who's come to grips with the fact that there is actually some work involved in creating an online business.
And while there are many good approaches and even some shortcuts, there is no pushbutton magic.
Looks like we both like to keep fit.
