Testimonials Are King!

One of the best things you can do for your online business is collect and publish testimonials.

They will go a long way towards establishing you as a trusted authority.

And once you have that reputation, people will buy (and continue to buy) from you.

But there are two questions:

• How do you collect testimonials? and
• Where do you display them?

How Do You Collect Testimonials?

You're not going to get people who've bought a product through your affiliate link to give you a testimonial. If anything, they'll give it to the vendor they've bought the product from.

No, you need to have given them valuable content as part of adding them to your email list.

I'm currently preparing a training course on how to do this. You can find the first one at How to Design an Attractive Cover but I plan on building it out into a complete course covering this topic.

Naturally, the first (welcome) email that you send your new contact will tell them how to download their free gift.

But the second one should ask them how they liked it, did they find it useful (and here's the download link again if they missed it) and how great it would be if they could give you a testimonial, along with permission to publish it.

And while you clearly don't want to write the testimonial for them (no, seriously you don't) it can be very helpful to provide them with some questions to answer. Some people just need a bit of a prod to get started.

What if It's Negative?

Unless you've been hit by an actual troll, publish it anyway. It will do wonders for your trust factor.

Where Do You Display Them?

On your front page and on your landing page for the associated opt-in.

You want them to be the first thing that your visitors see.
