There's usually an option for you to specify the width of the images. It's automatically set at 540 (or smaller if your images are smaller). so you can change the 540 to 300 or 400 or whatever you want.

When you are editing, place your cursor in the bottom right corner where a resize arrow will appear. Drag it in, to the size you want.
I did that and it showed them as small. But when I published it they showed up really large as you see them in my blog.
