My Wealthy Affiliate Journey
My Wealthy Affilliate Journey
I went down the eCommerce path late last year and set up my own website. I spent $6,000 on a web designer creating my eCommerce site. Whilst my intent was to undertake the Content Management, I felt the designer sold me the product, slapped me on the back after I had paid him and pushed me out the door saying good luck. Zero training, not even a manual, but I am a phone call away. That was what I faced.
Imagine buying a plane and walking away without an instruction manual? That's how it felt.
Three weeks ago, whilst researching affiliate marketing, I stumbled across the Wealthy Affilliate website. I wish I had found it 12 months ago. After a few days of playing with the free content and undertaking the free part of the course, I was all in. Much of what my web designer did, I was now doing. I have a better appreciation of what is involved in using Wordpress, the same platform my eCommerce site uses.
As a result, of the course, I set up a website on a topic I am passionate about: Football (soccer). www.myfootballtrainingdrills.com offers training drills mainly for coaches training kids. It also addresses techniques and some tips and advice on advanced football skills.
WA is also enhancing my understanding of Google rankings. The Jaaxy keyword tool is awesome and the learnings Iam deriving will help me understand my eCommerce site as well. Whilst I am nearing the end of Lesson 2, I have had notifications so far that my Blogs have ranked on Google. How good is that. It only took one week.
I plan now to continue adding content to my WA site. At the same time, I know now I need to keep adding content regularly to my eCommerce site.
I would like to set up further sites over the next 3 to 6 months once i have completed Level 3.
On another note, last year I did an eCommerce course through a University. The WA course is about 60% of the cost of that course, though I have learned so much more due to the hands on nature or "Do it Yourself" and set up a website approach.
WA Glad I found you!

Wow £6000.00!! I did a lot of research before I found WA, I discovered that a lot of the affiliating training schemes entice you in with a 'free month' but them the monthly fee has to be paid. However what I also discovered by digging deeper, was that once you have bought in, they have 'levels.
My friend signed up to one and within a month had been 'upsold' twice and was telling me he was taking a bank loan for two thousand pounds to buy in top a higher level of training and coaching! He was also told to set aside £1000 for marketing and £1000 for additional training and add on's to his website.
When I caught up with this friend, I admit his website looks far more slick than mine and content is well researched. However he has had only minimal visitors and had only two posts. His traffic and impressions were about a tenth of mine.
Of course different Niches and time factors in here, maybe over time his website will get more visits and make him far more money, however for me it is the initial outlay. I feel I got exactly the same, if not better for £4000 less and the monthly fee here is half. Ok some might say you get what you pay for! but do we really?
Thanks for a great post that reminds us of what great value, WA is.
