Are any of you Bitcoin traders out there actually legitimate? I'm not so sure!

As with many of us, times are hard and we are tempted to wander off in directions unknown to us. Some of us find our way here luckily? But I am sure that at some point in. the not too distant past you have received messages on Instagram or messenger promising profits with Bitcoin or Forex or some other tosh and I am sure that like me you have been tempted?

You know the ads? Add a 0 to your investment, start with as little as $100, no stress I will trade for you. And all the rest of it!

This is an account of what happened to a friend of mine only yesterday!

He PM'd someone on Facebook who was advertising to make money. Ask me how? said the post, so he did. "Bitcoin" was the answer, "not interested" was his. "Why not?" was the question. So he gave his reasons saying that he believed it to be a pie in sky investment.

I would add that he was thinking of investing in Amazon after seeing an ad for that.

Anyway I digress, The person on messenger then suggested communicating through Whatsapp.

The short of it is that they were very good at selling and pushing just the right amount to maintain his interest.

So they started with the magic figure $100 he opened a wallet with some company and sent the bitcoin to a network given by the trader it arrived without problem. Then there was the 1st hitch. OH sorry my company has a new policy for small investors you need to buy another $90 worth in order to start trading. " I don't have it" was the response" This is where it started to get good. I did some research this morning through Instagram and its amazing how similar the pitches are.

My friends trader.

"Are you saying I'm lying?"

" Why would I lie for $190?"

" I don't want or need your money, I am just trying to help"" And finally after hours he agreed and sent the bitcoin, because once you are in you are in.

Guess what happened next? " Did you send it? I didn't receive it!" What's happening?

" I sent it look here's the transaction"

"OK don't worry let's do this, you can't send anymore so look you send only $50 dollars more of coin and I will put up the rest, I REALLY WANT TO HELP YOU!"

My trader on Instagram this morning.

" Hello" I said, "are you trading Bitcoin?"

"Yes"

"OK what's the minimum investment"

" $150"

" I don't have it"

"Don't worry send a $100 and I'll put the rest up"

"Sorry not yet I need to ask some questions like your name and company?"

" Are you calling me a scammer and a liar?"

Anyway you get the picture? The other similarities are also amazing the pictures are always a serious looking person mainly women, maybe to portray more confidence. Women are less likely to rip you off.

Also on the messages the English starts off really well, but as they claim righteous indignation at your suggestions that they are liars ( Even though you never suggested it) The English spelling starts to break down. So I can only assume that they are not even English or American as they start to write in English like Eastern Europeans, ( My sincere apologies to all righteous Eastern Europeans)

So that's the Scam My friend down $200 and seriously disillusioned!

So I ask again are any of you Bitcoin traders out there really Kosher????

And if you are send me your details, but don't get offended when I want to do due diligence on you !!!!

Thank you for sharing. I always get an email about investing on a bitcoin as it is growing fast. The email said. That it is going to be the currency of the future on internet. That soon $1 bill will be useless and it maybe the last time you will see it.! That’s the sales pitch I get. I have received such ads a few times. Email comes from Rogue Economics, sometimes Bill Bonner. It is very good to know it is a scam. It would have been on the news if it’s legite. Thanks again.

Yes, ads on Bitcoin is full on the internet. Not exactly to do with investing but mining bitcoin, I downloaded a mining app and mined bitcoin. After I have mined required amount I tried to move them to a wallet on bitcoin.org but the bitcoins didn't seem to go there. It just got lost and I don't know how? Need help there.

I hope WA does not have this platform. Thanks.

So many Scams Paul. It is heartbreaking some of the stories of elderly and vulnerable people acting in good faith only to have their money stolen.
Like you say if they are legit they would have no problem with you doing due diligence.

Best wishes and stay safe.
