Key Amazon Associates Program Policies Every Affiliate Must Follow
Following Amazon’s rules protects your account—and your hard-earned commissions. Let’s break down the important policies every affiliate should know (in simple language).
Key Amazon Associates Program Policies Every Affiliate Must Follow
What You Must Not Do
- Don’t cloak or hide your affiliate URLs—Amazon must clearly see where a visitor is coming from .
- Don’t include Amazon links in ebooks or print—links must stay online only .
- Avoid using static prices or star ratings unless they come via Amazon’s API; they change too often .
- Never send affiliate links in email—that’s against policy .
- Do not use Amazon’s logo or trademark improperly, like on your own buttons or graphics .
- Avoid artificially clicking your own links, encouraging others to do so, or any fraud .
- Only link to products on Amazon—not help pages or redirect pages .

I remember when I first started here at WA and one of my niche websites was using Amazon Associates Program links. At first I thought their rules were too strict, but as time went by I came to appreciate them. Though I am not affiliated with them in my current niche, I am a BIG fan of Amazon and Jeff Bezos.
That’s really encouraging to hear! 😊 I’ve also noticed that Amazon’s rules can feel strict at first, but they really do help us stay professional and build trust with our audience. It’s great that you had that experience early on—it shows the value of learning through the process. I’m also a fan of Amazon, and Jeff Bezos has definitely built something remarkable!
I know many people complain about their low commissions and short cookie duration, but they are the biggest and best for a reason. If one wants to promote products, they practically have everything!
Complainers don't know how to catch big fish. The amazon give them the ocean of products but they don't veture out into the deep but catching small fish on shallow waters. The opportunity to earn commission is huge.
Paul.
I already put that Amazon affiliates statement on my profile bio. And I am going to put the statement on the two or three other pages where I have a link. I do not have many and none should be cloaked since I do not know how to do that. MAC.
