What's your day job?

Many of us are new at WA and I am just celebrating my one month anniversary. I feel great about where I am having built a website and making it completely through Course 2 as well as attending some of the Friday night training sessions and participating in the Live Chat.

I am guessing most of us newbies still have our "day jobs" so I'd like to know what yours is and can you post a photo of what you do?

I am a Kitchen and Bath designer and I am posting the beginning working drawings of a wine room I am designing for a client in the Colorado Mountains. When it's complete and installed, I will post pics.

Thanks! Good to meet you! And I'm excited to see what you are up to!

Hi Patti!

I'm a security officer at a data center. More specifically I'm a metal detector operator and it's my job to make sure no unauthorized items leave the floor. I'd love to share a photo with you, but unfortunately phones are not allowed where I work and I signed an NDA.

I find the job both stressful and boring. It's stressful because I am an introvert and I get to try and make small talk with people all day long. It's also boring since it might be anywhere from 30 seconds to several hours before I have work to do.

I find that while I don't hate my job, as long as I'm not being drafted to work extra days, I don't particularly like it either. It's a job, not a career, and not something I'm really passionate about.

I currently work 3 12 hour days, and it is exhausting after that third one, which is why it's been harder on me lately since I've been given the joys of an extra 12 hour day.

Well that's my day job. Not glamorous, but it pays the bills for now.

Ta ta!

Thanks for sharing Michelle. I like to know more about people on WA and what their lives are about. I didn't even know a job like yours existed! I hope you do well with your website so that you can really enjoy your career.

Hello Patti,
I am a Natural Resource Specialist for the State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources in the Water Resources Section. I adjudicate water use authorizations for oil and gas companies throughout the state. I work with companies like ConocoPhillips on a daily basis so they get water they need for all projects including camp use, building ice roads, refineries, drilling etc. It is interesting when you get to tell an oil company no! In Alaska all water belongs to the state so it is a challenge to give everyone what they need. Sometimes multiple companies want the same water. However, fish and other resources must be protected as well so we can't let them take it all from one source.

Here is my cubicle:

Wow--what a cool job!! Is your niche related to that or entirely different?

My niche is completely different! Cat health and behavior! I wanted to share the amazing supplements I found that saved my cat from tooth extractions etc around the time I found WA. I decided I might as well make a site based on what I know and love. Eventually I want to create a human nutritional deficiency and supplementation site.

Your job sounds nice. It would be great to work independently!

Oh! My pomeranian has had MANY teeth pulled. Pleas share your site address if you would like. My niche is about losing those last 10 pounds--the hardest part of weight loss.

Good luck to you!!

The supplement I use is made for both cats and dogs! I used to have dogs but didn't know about the supplement before. My cat had to go get his teeth cleaned at the vet every year and it was awful. Anesthesia every time, so expensive and dangerous and painful. I thought there must be a better way! I was so amazed when I found this stuff. My vet even recommends it now based on how well it worked for him.

My website is https://thrivingcat.com It is listed under my profile.
