Explain the difference between http//www.wealthy affiliate.com and https:// my.wealthyaffiliate.com?

I looked it up and all I see is "HTTPS". The first link you've provided doesn't work, friend. I've manually put it in and it takes me to "HTTPS". All the best!

http (hyper text transfer protocol) access a site through an open link, so that anyone with suitable software can see what is being transferred. https (hyper text transfer protocol secure) encrypts the data in both directions through what is called SSL (secure socket layer.

Your websites should only be accessed through https and Google will issue a security warning yo your visitors if it's not.

Hi Owosol,

There is a big difference between http and https. You have a web browser that requests a web page from a web server. That request is sent in what is called plain text. If you were to tap the connection you will be able to see every request sent.

https is different. Think of the s meaning secured. The web browser and server create an encrypted secure channel to make it hard for anyone to be able to tap the connection and watch the traffic. Encrypted means scrambled in simple terms.

You always want to use https in your communications today between a web browser and web server.

I hope this helps.
Keith

Both wealthyaffiliate.com and my.wealthyaffiliate.com, and ALL websites hosted here at Wealthy Affiliate are https (have ssl). :)

Including the http//:?

one is secure with ssl and the other is not ...
that is what the s is for...
wa is https..
and most sites will redirect from http t ohttps nowadays...
unless they forget to update their certificate....

What is the difference between internal and external link?
How are external links created?

Internal links are links within your one website - pages and posts linking to each other.

External links are link from your website to another website. That website could be another one of your websites or someelses.

Here is some info on them.

Check this out for some info on "external links" it may help...

Hi Solomon,

An internal link is the link you use to link from a certain page or post on your website to another page or post.

An external link is where you may for example reference the meaning of Affiliate Marketing which you got from Wikipedia, you would then link the words Affiliate marketing with the Wikipedia link so as when your visitors clicked on Affiliate Marketing they would be taken to the Wikipedia explanation.

Hope this helps.

Mark

Thanks for your response.

Internal links are where you create a link (usually a text link) on a blog post to another, related blog post or page. There are two aims here. One is to increase your seo by creating a strong web of relevance within your site. And the other is to encourage visitors who land on one of your blog posts (because it ranks high for a search term) to explore other posts on your site.

External posts link to other websites, often highly influential sites such as Wikipedia. These just add credence but have the downside of leading your visitors away from your site.

Hope that clarifies it for you :)
