My 2018 New Year Resolutions!
How was everyone's New Year? Hope it went well.
I will admit that I am not one for making resolutions. The reason is that I think that every day we should better ourselves to fulfill our goals and our dreams. Not wait for the new year.
But this year I don't know why but I feel different. Maybe it's because I have seen some momentum building up lately with my site and want to keep it going with goals that I intend to keep throughout the year.
So with that said here are my resolutions:
1) Write More Reviews
When I first started with WA and built my site I began to write informative posts. I put off writing reviews as I found them hard to do. But that's where we affiliate marketers make our money isn't it?
I have got reviews on my site, but they probably count towards a third of my posts.
Lately I have concentrated on writing these as I have become more confident with them. So I intend to write more throughout the new year.
2) Be More Social
While I have been concentrating on my site and building it I have neglected being social. I have been promoting each and every one of my posts but I haven't commented much on anyone else's blogs that are in my niche.
I have been doing that lately and continue to do so, so that The Genealogy Guide gets noticed.
3) Climb The Ladder
I submitted my genealogy site to a Top 100 Genealogy Blogs site back in November. And I immediately went in at #33.
I was surprised at this as I thought I would enter at about #70. So that was a good achievement.
For the December update I remained at #33.
My visitors did go down during the middle of December but have climbed again towards the end. Maybe it's because of Christmas.
But anyway, I intend to keep doing what I am doing and make The Genealogy Guide the #1 site for beginners to go to for help.

I know that there is more to be done with the site. Shame I have to go to work, lol. Otherwise I would be spending more time on it.

Hi Owain nice to meet you.. I am a newbie and still in the learning process. The thing is I don't want to sell other people"s products to make them rich. I want to do blogging. But can you make an income out of blogging? My eldest son is in a wheelchair and paralyzed in his under body due to a shooting incident 14 years ago.
I want to make a video of his life. How he is going on with his life
in spite of his disability. In the video is a lot of tips how you can make their life and the family's life easier. I also create something
which can make disabled people life's more comfortable . In stead of sell the created product myself I included it in the video with step by step instructions how to make it your self and also shows how the product work.I want to inspire people with this video.

Hi Bev,
That is a very inspiring blog that you have. Unless you show people where they can buy the 'parts' that they will need them I'm not sure how you could make money.
Unless you get sponsorship on your site from people wanting to advertise on your site.

Thank you Gail. That’s just some of my goals. I do have others such as trying to do 2-3 posts a week and getting more followers each week.
Hi Owain, I make time even if it's a few minutes each day to take care of social media. I post and acknowledge a few at the same time and most aren't even in my niche. We want other's to share our posts also, this way our niche gets 'out there'. I just liked and shared your's on Twitter, I always do when I see fellow WA members there. I like and share all of them no matter what the niche is.

The Top 100 Genealogy Blogs site that I have joined sends out regular emails giving me the top genealogy posts. I check these out and comment on what I can. So this is helping me get noticed.

Eeekk! I've only used it like 5 times! Pethaps I should just pick one or two days to be more social.
As the saying goes: Without change there will be no change.
Bad girl! I wrote a blog post about it earlier, how I noticed many members aren't even active on Social media. They join during the lessons and that's it.
I'm behind in joining since I'm not really into it but...we have to for our business to help get us out there. I'm posting it tomorrow :D
I find it frustrating when I try to be social yet I see some people who aren’t yet they are succeeding. My time will come I know.
Sounds as if you're on the right track, Owain. I remember Jay spoke about social media in one of his webinars. He just spoke two yet simple words: Be social.

Thank you Xavier. It's difficult to keep up with my site what with work and family commitments. But I do what I can and I feel whatever I do is a step in the right direction.
I'm feeling more confident writing reviews now, so expect to see more of these on my site.
