Don't fall for the gimmick

There is a fascinating story of a man called Elijah in the Bible. After Elijah had achieved some great feat, he had his down time (off-season). It got so bad that the great Elijah prayed to God to kill him. He said something that is of interest to me and relevant to this discourse. He said "I am the only one remaining"

I am not going into any theological debate here. I am only using that story for the purpose of illustration.

Competition is part of life

Generally in life we compete either directly or otherwise. This appears to be part of the natural instinct of human beings to benchmark their attainment with that of colleagues. I think it is natural to do that. It becomes a problem when one allow that to drive or push him to engage in unwholesome activities.

It is not out of place for some of us to see or read about the progress of other colleagues here and feel unfulfilled. That is good. It is to challenge, encourage and eventually bring the best out of us.

How you engage with competition is important.

In the story of Elijah that I started with. In his low time, Elijah gave up on himself. He gave up on the power that supported him to achieve all that he achieved before the turn of events. And this what we do most times.

In life, we get knocked down once in a while, but those kicks are not strong enough for a knockout except we give in.

I want encourage us that whenever the knocks come, giving up is not and cannot be the best option.

Although, you will feel that you are the only person that is not making progress. That is a big lie. How about people who haven't heard about affiliate marketing at all. How about thousands that will sign up with Wealthy Affiliate in 2024?

When you allow the thought that you are the only one not making progress rule you, it becomes difficult for you to embrace new ideas and pursue the vision you have at the initial stage.

So what do you do.

Take a step back. Take a deep breath and hit back on the training and engagement with the community.

If the system has made some people and will continue to make some, how and why will I be an exception? I know Wealthy Affiliate has made some great guys. It is still in the business, why will I not be made? Let this be your resolve.

If its good for some people, all I need to do is getting my acts together and I will be one of the success stories.

Encourage yourself by reviewing the initial vision and your approach.

As someone mentioned on this platform, call a friend when the low times come. Share your thoughts and your fears. Believe you me honestly, the grass only appear greener on the other side. The same wind blow on everyone.

Success only come to the few who confront the situation and make the best of every opportunity that come their way. And that can be you!

Why not?

Love this post Segun,

I have to admit, I'm getting inspired as I see so many people on here succeed, and that is what is spurring me on. It's opening me up to the possibility that I could too!

I'm seeing so many more opportunities where we can help each other and network to lift each other up. Like the saying I've heard a lot lately that "a rising tide lifts all boats".

It's true, we're all unique with our own voice and ways of going about things. Sometimes I'm down when I can't get my point of view across. I feel that being understood is a very human trait as well.

I'm finding the times when I'm down (just a little so far), are when I either stop (maybe like Elijah?), or I'm feeling really confused about which direction.

Fortunately on this platform there is so much help for every question I have asked. There is always a way forward and there are so many people here to help point the way.

So great to meet you and have this opportunity to see part of your journey!

Thank you for sharing your wisdom

Jacquie

That big hairy Why that drove you to the portals of Wealthy Affiliate should always be your encourager. Immerse yourself in the company of those who are on the same journey of success with you.......leave the company of naysayers!
Thank you O'Segun for that piece of encouragement. We all need that jab in the arm.

❤️

I just read about Elijah! And Daniel. Thanks for good reminders. Barb

Very eager ti know his age ?

Whose age please?

Segun this was a very good post, and one more should consider. Negativity or envy does not help us in becoming successful.

The most successful will humble themselves and ask questions. No one person online, or here know all, and I have seen that from the top affiliates here for many years. They are still asking questions and encouraging themselves by encouraging others.
The power within our mind will either rob us or help make us successful.
Take care,
Bill

Many thanks Bill.

I am delighted to read your thoughts. They are stimulating.

I wish you all the best.
