My grand-daughter asked me:

"Grandpa, when you were young there were no cell phones, computers, calculators, internet, google, wi-fi ... What did you used at school?"

"We used our brains" I answered.

I can see that all this technological advances are a great step in assisting us to perform in our careers and life and let us not forget that AI is already here.

We need to continue exercising our brain if we want a clear mind to the end.

I think I remember using that in the old days. Perhaps it is lack of exercise of my brain that has caused me to take much longer to recall something.

Derek

Hi Derek,
Healthy diet, exercises and 8 hours plus sleep makes wonders for the brain to keep you alert and aware.

I also do "Brain Gym" exercises developed by Paul Dennison PhD.
For my 79 years young, I am keeping fine.

Take care, and ... before I forget ... thanks for the comment.

Thoughtful post.
Maybe they have different ways to exercise their brains than what we were accustom to before technology.

The younger generation seem to still be brilliant and innovative.

Hello there,

"The younger generation seem to still be brilliant and innovative." I might say with their gadgets but without them ... In math it is helpful to have the back-up of using your brain when your calculator breaks down.

Anyhow, AI is here to assist us humans giving us more time to "think" thus exercise our brains.

Cheers

That is so true, Oscar, it is amazing the kids of today do not know any other time.

Before calculators, there were slide rules and before them long division, which created nimble brains.

We run the risk of being cocooned out of existence.

With technology, we need to look at ways that we can expand our perceptions and ideas.

A very thoughtful post.

Thanks Alex,

Technology. after all, is not bad it will assist in part to "expand our perceptions and ideas".

Cheers
