Remembering my father
It's fathers day. It's that special time when we celebrate fathers and the role they play in our lives and in society. I am blessed to have had a father who was every inch the kind of father anyone will wish to have. I had no doubt that he loved me because it showed in the way he looked at me with pride.
In his eyes, I was simply the best, most beautiful and smartest kid.
He played soccer with me, he showed me how to fix things around the house, he took me with him to choir practices. He taught me to love God and to be confident in the abilities God has given me. He taught me to love education and made sure I got the best.
It's been 5 years already since I lost him, but it's still like yesterday. In my mind, I'm still his little girl. Every thing I do, every decision I make, every milestone I achieve, I can still hear him cheering me on as he always did. I can still see him giving me the thumbs up, with that infectious smile that conveys pride and joy and true love of a father.
I know for a fact that he is still and will always be my #1 fan.
Happy fathers day to all the fathers! Have memorable fun times with your family!!

Sounds like you had one heck of a good father. I'm 77 years old so my father has been gone for a long time. However I can still remember a lot of the things he's done for me. He was a great man also!
My father was wonderful! I wish all fathers knew to spend time to do the seemingly little things with their children. You never forget those fun times! Hope you had a great day.

I miss my dad every day and we're separated by the oceans and mountains and countries and more. Thanks for sharing this piece, Onyeka. I truly enjoy it and I also left you a comment on your page. Happy FAther's day.

I lost my father in 2007 but I don't feel I've lost him as such, he lives on in my heart and I can hear him in my daily life :) He gave me the belief that I could do anything if I put my mind to it and his favorite saying, Yes you can, take the 't' off can't! God Bless Our Fathers everywhere :)) I know this is late..but couldn't resist leaving a comment.
Thanks for the lovely comments, JennyAnn. I owe you apologies too for responding late. I've been offline for a while now.
I know how you feel, those memories are always there, and they are very sweet and loving memories.
Wishing you the very best in all you do.
