Be the Bridge - Be your brothers keeper

The quote featured on the image on this post has been on my mind and I just thought this will be a great time to share it. Lately, many of our WA colleagues have been going through difficult times in different areas of their lives. First I applaud them for having enough confidence in the community to share their struggles with us. I know there are a lot more going through even worse than we've heard about, they just don't feel comfortable sharing. I understand, I just want to let them know that they are not alone in their struggles. Every single thing you're going through, someone else has gone through it and more.

We all do go through difficulties at every point in our lives. No living being is problem-free. What differentiates the victims from the victors is how you choose to handle your challenges. It's been great to see members rally around each other in times of difficulty. Somehow, we've all found strength and courage through encouraging each other. Somehow, we've found the right words just in time to lift someone up and also lift ourselves up in the process.

Prayers are answered through people. I want to encourage everyone to continue to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of people around them, not just within the community. You are placed where ever you are for a reason. Someone within your reach or influence may have prayed a prayer that only you can be the answer to. Unless you recognize it and do something about it, that prayer will never be answered. It may even cost a life! Imagine if someone that's supposed to be the answer to your prayer fails to recognize it and respond!

So this weekend, take a few minutes and make a conscious effort to see a need around you that you can meet. From our experience here at WA, we can see that a kind, thoughtful word goes a very long way. It's not always about money, it can be hugs, kind words, a smile, a prayer, validation, recognition, volunteering your time. No act of kindness is too small or insignificant. Someone is counting on you to fill that need. Just do something rather than nothing. Let's be our Brothers Keeper.
