Broke! How can I pay my WA Membership Fee?
I have been here almost four months. During this time I have seen several members unable to go Premium, or continue their membership due to a lack of funds. It really pains me that a program as laudable as Wealthy Affiliate and which has so much promise, in offering lifetime income stream, would have to be given up by a member, due to their inability to pay the monthly Premium fee.
But the reality is that if the money screws are on, with a number of other commitments pressing, its hard to wait on the build out of a website and the attraction of followers leading to hoped for sales. I have seen some people say its only $49 a month and while this might not be a huge figure, if you are on a tight budget because you have been laid off, or a retiree or have major medical expenses, that $49 can pay a phone bill, keep the lights on, heck buy the expensive medication needed to be taken monthly to stay alive.
So it got me thinking what is the fastest way to earn quick bucks. Well the answer is right here in front of us. SELL WEALTHY AFFILIATE PREMIUM membership. You are going through the training. You understand how the system works. You sure can explain it and if not you have access to a ton of material that could help you do so.
First lets remind ourselves of the numbers. You can earn after a couple months $23.50 every month once that member stays with WA. That means if you were able to get just 3 members to join, you would earn $70.50 a month. Yes only 3 members. This would cover your $49 monthly fee and allow you to have a little in reserve
So where can you get these people to sign up?
I would think it would initially be the people that you are mostly in contact with - family, friends and close colleagues.
How would you communicate the offer to them?
Well lets consider some quick, easy and cost free ways you could woo someone to signing up, reminding them that they can do so without a credit card for free for the first seven days. They are:
- Call the person up on the phone and just have a conversation. You probably would need to have a couple of these to convince them.
- Write an email describing WA, the benefits (training, Site Support, free domains, website and etc) and send out to the emails of your close circle. Follow up if required.
- Host a mixer with a fellow WA Influencer who could help you with a group presentation and to close the deal
- Do a social media post with embedded links on Facebook, Pinterest, Linkedin etc.
- Do a video on YouTube or Tik Tok with embedded links under relating how WA could help you past some of your current financial woes.
If you are really strapped one of these approaches might just be able to help you to continue. Remember it is only 3 Premium members you need to sign up to cover your monthly Premium commitment. I really believe in you and that you've got this!

Persuading 3 people to go premium is not an easy task. Your advice is misleading and totally unrealistic for a new member.
People write dozens of blogs and spread their tentacles over various social media before they attract first paying customers, it's not just phoning up your uncle and telling him to join.
I agree that for some this might be a challenge however based on other members responses it would seem that this could be a viable route to take. Remember there really are few solutions that are a 100% solve all, just like I would think riding a bike or swimming is simple others will not.
While I believe it is a way to get some money and possibly cover your membership fee , having a business in affiliate marketing cost approx 200/300 dollars a year (education (WA), tools to build your business (like domain name ,autoresponder and so on).
If you constantly have to worry about that kind of money having or having a hard time to pay your other bills( rent, electricity/gas and so on) then you are not in the right mindset. The danger you might fall into is that you become a money chaser( because hey those bills need to get payed) and this will work against you and withhold you from becoming successful online.

Yo Luc yes I agree that chasing the program just to make a buck is a failed and unsustainable strategy. The solution really is a shoet term one to cover your membership and perhaps a couple unavoidable website related costs though WA covers many add ons in their one fee. Remember once the commissions start to roll that's one cost (membership) you will not need to fret about allowing you time to build out your online biz.
That WHOLE should be magnified 10x. If it's one person that knows that I know it is you Jeff. Appreciate the knowledge drop.
You're welcome, Hugh! I was only using it to illustrate the point to people who would seem to by crying foul of a few hundred dollars that what we have here with an internet business is pennies on the dollar compared to a physical one! We are lucky!
To be able to afford the meager cost of WA would mean to sacrifice a few small luxuries to be a success in a business that can give one a whole lot more than that in a few short years!

One of the real benefits of WA membership is that we are system affiliates by default, and as some learn early on applying for and being accepted by programs is not a cakewalk. There are credible advantages to membership here in WA.
So capitalizing on that aspect of WA, is a great way to self-fund.
When promoting to family, friends, and associates it can be helpful to weigh up who to talk to and who to promote to and who to give a wide berth.
I think that getting your affiliate link and sharing it far and wide can be helpful at any stage.

Another good way and one that many overlook is creating websites, in my mind Jay's yardstick, for website development is $ 50 per hour, ( mentioned in a webinar). which is also a credible way to generate income or a flat rate for a three pager with recurring income from hosting, the resources here in WA make for an attractive package. There would be change left over.

I have been a member since 2016 and have never had 1 premium referral to WA. I have built a few websites for friends on this platform and got paid more than the annual membership fee.
Focus on friends and family that may need a website, eventually you should be making more than $50/mo or $500 a year, but you may be new to this. Find someone that you think needs a website and use one of your 10 slots to help them out. Tell them you will set-it up and host it for a year for $500. This covers your annual renewal upgrade and lets you focus on your business for the next 12 months.
Yes Rich good points you raise, there are several wonderful revenue possibilities that exist right here that we can take advantage of to get us up and away. Some things some of us can do better than others The thing is understanding them and be able to sell/ promote them properly. Thanks for popping in.
