Themes and comment boxes, frustrations oh my!

First I want to say thank you to those who have commented on my new blog post at aromaticallyyou.com? I appreciate them & love answering your questions! But that’s where the confusion sets in. I’ve had a process over the last few days and where my frustration level has come from.

I started my blog using the renden theme that had 3 feature boxes. Unfortunately I could not find any help on how to edit those boxes. I asked here at WA & received verification from others that they couldn’t find anything either. At least I’m not losing my mind!

While using the renden theme, I made a post that I was happy with but didn’t like how it looked on the live site with the 3 feature boxes I couldn’t change.

So I decided to change my theme to the twenty sixteen theme. Go reset all the general settings in the theme, All-in-one SEO plug-in, etc. My post carried over just fine as did my pages for privacy, about me & affiliate disclosure.

At this point I asked WA members to help out and make some comments. I received one comment right away then another member said there was no comment box on my post. I went &checked...by golly he was right! So how did the first post get there? Then I recieved 5 other comments but I still didn’t see a comment box on my post.

However I do see the comments on my static pages...about me & privacy policy. Next I went to check my settings.... in the theme I have all the right boxes checked about comments & no comments. I went in the back office for my post & the comment box is checked

So confused! It looks like it should be working correctly but it’s not.

So I’m thinking about changing my theme again but how do I know the next one won’t do the same thing?

Going out to breakfast to rorganize my thoughts and mindset....food always helps!

Any comments/help are welcome & totally appreciated.

Sorry about your frustration, In the beginning I used one of the themes recommended by Kyle in the certification course and kept it for a while before experimenting with new themes; It's all part of the learning process.
Have a great day Lisa.

I think you better look for another theme, a trusted one for we need a stable theme for our sites.

I had the same issue on my website and submitted a ticket to Site Support. It turns out it wasn't my theme causing the issue.
Here is the conversation as it unfolded:

Hi Support. I am wondering if you can help find my comments box on my website.
In WordPress Appearance Settings - Default Article Settings
Allow People to Post Comments on New Articles is ticked.
However, on the live website, there is no comment box to allow comments.
Also in the right widget area it has a place to show recent comments.
Can you please help me fix?
Thank you
Dave

Hello David,

We can see the comment box for posts and pages. Please provide us the URL for which you are facing this issue.

I gave support the URLs and they replied:

David,

The URLs you have provided are the URLs with the post added to the category. The comment box is present in the actual post and cannot be added to the category URL. We hope this clarifies the confusion.

Thank you for showing me this. I now know where the comments are. I appreciate your help. Cheers Dave

I wonder if your issue is the same as I had.
Sounds like it.
And if it is, then changing your theme will prove nothing.
I hope sharing my experience has helped.
Cheers Dave

Thank you so much for the response. When I get back to my computer, I will definitely check that out! Was hoping someone had a similar issue before I contacted site support.

Lisa

WordPress 4.9.4 running Business Kit theme.
But it seems that the theme is not the issue. Dave

I went & changed my category back to uncategorized and updated the site. Still can't see it. Guess I will look for yet another theme!

Sounds like you need Site Support.
Click Site Rubix and then Site Support.
Have a great day. Dave
