One Year with Wealthy Affiliate

I had crossed my 1-year old "birthday" with Wealthy Affiliate yesterday. It also means I will soon need to renew my membership. *chuckle*

I suppose it is just customary to write a blog post to document down my experience here.

Being in Wealthy Affiliate is probably the best starting place to learn the ropes of affiliate marketing. Not just that, it is also a place to learn the foundation of the entire spectrum of digital marketing.

Of course, I have not been anywhere else to learn digital marketing, so I have nothing to compare. But I wonder whether I really need to?

There are already so many things to learn here. I can never finish. If ever needed, I can always Google for the answer or search on YouTube to supplement. And the community has so many experienced people to point me to the right place. The only worry is sometimes the experienced ones may have missed your question.

Being with Wealthy Affiliate probably beats enrolling in any digital marketing course with an educational institute. The only downside is the absence of a recognised certification? But embarking on a solopreneurship or entrepreneurship, paper qualification no longer matters.

What's more, the training here is very much practical. The OEC training teaches us step by step what to do, and I am ever so grateful for this training model.

I have not yet earned my first cent from affiliate marketing. I'm not the brightest among the "students" here. Some have got their first commission by their 2nd or 3rd month, others in 6 months, and others from their 9th month.

It does feel stressful when you see your peers moving along well. But the truth is, everyone has a different level of expertise and competency. It is not about competing with others but with ourselves. We are our greatest enemy.

We all move at our own pace, constrained by our circumstances or commitments and how "hungry" we are to succeed.

The good thing with Wealthy Affiliate is that the community is always encouraging. Lots of energy and ideas are flowing every day. It is just a matter of having the time to read them.

The success stories serve as our inspiration, reinforcing our belief that we will succeed.

Our community is like our home, to recharge and mingle when we are tired. It is also a place for us to find inspiration and support where required.

My only wish list is to have a smaller intimate group to have more in-depth support for each other progress. I have previously harped about a mastermind group but didn't take further action yet.

Being in the world of digital marketing, I find we are broadly learning 4 things:

• Learning the technical side
• Learning content creation and all aspects relating to digital marketing
  
• Learning about our niche and be an authority
  
• A paradigm shift of our mindset
  

I'm sure you can imagine there is so much to achieve. Having passion in our niche is therefore so important where it propels us to become better each day.

I just felt I had grown so much in this knowledge space, and looking back this past 1 year, it is not a waste of time at all. The skills and knowledge that I have learned are very useful and relevant in our current world context and beyond.

I am enjoying this journey and hope there will be many more to come.
