about 10 hours ago@Kyle I bought a domain but want to change it.

I am on 1st lesson, Module 2

about 10 hours ago @NOVO-SCORP Unfortunately, you cannot change a domain name after it has been created. You would need to create a brand new website with a new domain if you wanted to update the domain URL. That is the only way to update the URL of your website.

You can use the Move feature to move all of the old content from the old domain to your new one and this will make it so you don't lose any of the existing work you have done on your domain.

@Kyle I will keep the existing site, i might be able to do something with it.

Do you think a new WA Premium member should know "upfront" what can be "done" and "undone" within a lesson ?

A HUGE part of learning is about making mistakes, you may want to consider that when you update the Training.

Kyle
about 6 hours ago @NOVO-SCORP Well anything can be undone and done, but I can put more emphasis on the fact that there are no major mistakes that you can really make in the business world. It is better that you make a mistake and learn something, than not make a mistake

@Kyle Still does not explain WHY Module 2, lesson 1 does not say you cannot change the Domain name once bought.

I got trust issues at this point.

Changing domains isn't a big deal when you are starting out. It's actually helpful to make mistakes along the way or you simply never learn anything.
It's only a few bucks anyway.
1. Decide on your Niche.
2. Get an inexpensive .com domain that is easy to remember, share and has some sort of connection with your site
3.Add content.....and lots of it. Do that week in, week out for around 24 months and then....you will start to see some results.

That my friend, is the name of the game.

Incidentally, the Amazon website has little to do with the Rain Forest in Brazil, so the name really isn't that big of a deal....but what you put on your website...IS!

Good luck and keep going for it....don't give up and don't leave WA....it's a great place to hang out and learn loads and loads of great things.

Check out Jay's weekly videos....you will learn heaps if you give yourself a chance.

Peace brother...just trying to help out a fellow WArrior!

Hi Scott, I am sorry that you have stepped into a wrong path, but you are not only one. When I went to premium, I went to that lesson but I wondered why should I buy a domain because something was wrong with my website, so I skipped that lesson. By the time pass by, I learned that a domain name could not be changed. I still use siterubix.com. I agree with you, they need to tell it in the lesson, so they did not have to waste your money. Once I told Kyle that you leveraged us to make buy domain when we did not need, and Kyle said that I could buy domain in elsewhere and they did not make money from domain. It is up to you whether you stay or quit. God bless you wherever you go.

Thank you for replying, Tom.

In my case, the purchase was not the main issue. The lesson ask you to purchase a Domain name but says NOTHING about not being able to change the Domain name once purchased.

Check what the last message kyle wrote on my last blog. In my mind after he said that, i asked myself if i wanted to learn in an enviroment where every mistake cost you.

Learning is all about making mistakes !

-Scott

Yes, I got you. No one is perfect but instead of admitting it, making an excuse like "Learning is all about making mistakes !" is not acceptable. An issue is not purchasing domain, but quality of trainings.

It's sad that you would let such a little thing destroy a potential lucrative career. It won't matter who you join under, no one can normally refunds a paid domain. After one year you can choose not to renew it. Yes, maybe it should have been available to read in an early lesson, but so should a number of other things. WA isn't perfect but it's certainly one of the best affiliate marketing platforms available. Jim

Especially since changes on the internet are fast and furious (and constant) There is simply no way to totally keep up with everything in the trainings!

Jeff

Can't begin to tell you how many times I had to change my domains when I was getting started, and these domains were ones that I had bought from namechaep with my own money $8 to $10 per domain. Some domains I had put many hours of work into, some bought I never even used because I changed my mind after buying them, etc. This was all way before I even knew that wealthy affiliate and 301 redirects even existed. This is part of the journey of starting an online business, you make mistakes, you learn and then you move on. If you are willing to give up over this, then the journey ahead will be a difficult one for you. Best of luck and we'll be waiting for you with open arms if you ever decided to be back here at wealthy affiliate.
