Time Commitment - You get what you put in
So, I'm almost 3 months into my affiliate marketing journey, and I wanted to make a quick post related to the time commitment needed to get a blog up and running. I knew when I started that this would take time and effort, but I must admit that sometimes I'm a bit surprised at just how long it does take.
Starting out, I originally planned on spending about 6-8 hours a week on my blog and hoping that this would be enough time to make 2+ posts a week, plus time to comment on posts here on WA and other general maintenance, social media, and outreach. I've since realized that 6 hours is the bare minimum amount of time that I need to invest, and it's sometimes sad how little I get done with this amount of time.
I'm not sure if it's just me, but it takes me quite a long time to write and prepare each post - I've found on average at least 4 hours a post, but the more research necessary the longer it takes. While I wish that I could whittle down on this time, I think I'm also okay with spending this much time because generally I feel like my posts show that I've clearly put a lot of time into them. I believe that you get what you put in, but it is a bit frustrating at times.
So I don't know, what are others' thoughts on the amount of time that is needed to do this successfully? Is it weird that it takes me so long to prepare each post, or is this normal? Any time-saving tips?

Hi NMarchal,
With each person the time can vary. It is. Ethical to spend as much time to write a post. It takes me at least 3 to 5 hours to just get it started.
I will go to the link that Jude shared for how much time it should take to start and finish a post.
Thanks for sharing.

Hey,
I completely agree with you on this. For me it's the same problem at times, I spend a lot of time creating each post. But now I know I'm not the only one haha.
What I would advice, is to write about something you already have experience in. Topics you feel confident about your knowledge. This would save a lot of time that you spend researching.
Personally, before creating a post, I make a short keyword list, and explain every keyword later in my post.
Wish you best of luck, and keep going!
Most professional bloggers can take up to 4 days to write a post when they are just starting out, so don't beat yourself up over time. It's well worth it to get things right.
Great share, thanks, have a great week
