What is SEO?
In my last article, i told you guys about search engines, how they work and their types. If you missed it go back and read it. Now the next question that must be pondering your mind must be, "What is SEO?"
So, let's just get straight to the topic.
What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation. But, different people have different interpretations of SEO. Albeit, all of them are correct, in their own terms. According to me, the term can be simply put up as,
"A process or a technique of affecting the visibility of your website in the results of search engines. It is a process which improves the quality of traffic. Or a technique which enhances the website's performance greatly."
SEO is not a single process or technique but rather a series of small steps that when looked upon altogether can do wonders for any website or any web developer, company, business or an organisation. It is important for those organisations and companies whose business mainly runs online. It directly influences their business and the sales.
NEED OF SEO
The need of SEO has become vital. The main reasons why it should be emphasised on is:
- To increase business: Every organisation or company thrives for this sole objective. Increasing the business is the primary objective. SEO helps in achieving this objective.
- Accessible: You do business online. But people are unable to find or don't know even if your website exists. For this, you need to make it more accessible and easy to find. The more your website appears in search engine's result, the greater the chances of having an increase in business.
- To optimise: SEO optimises your website and it's content. Provided you do it correctly and in right measures.
The pre requisite for SEO can never be ignored. If you are doing SEO on a website, that doesn't match up the basic pre requisites, it is of no use. The following are the main pre requisites:
- Strong and informative content: The content on your website should be strong. By strong i mean that it should be not hollow in nature, rather it should be covered in depth. The more you dig in for your content, the better it is. Your content should be informative. It should give reader a clear idea of the topic.
- Keywords: Your content should have the keywords. Keywords mean the main words around which your content revolves. It should have a mix of different keywords, spread thoroughly all over.
- Unique content: You should never copy the content from any other website. This can prove fatal for your website and the business. The content should be unique, and should be preferably written by a content writer.
- Fresh content: One should be aware of the latest changes in his field. The content should be according to those changes. Writing on outdated technology or ideas wouldn't help. Do a research on your area, before you start writing.
