Are You the Driver of a Racy Sports Car or a Beat-Up WV Beetle?

Are you the driver of a cute beat up VW Beetle or the driver of a racy Audi S3 coupé?

The VW bug owner…

Holds up traffic as she slowly ambles her way through the countryside. Her motto: take it easy. No need to rush.

She loves her car, but fails to recognise that the old car has become a costly liability.

Unexpected repairs, towing fees and replacement parts strip thousands of dollars from her savings each year. Not to mention how much petrol the bug guzzles.

The bug owner really loves her car. But she fails to realise that VW plays up in the most unfortunate times and moments, always breaking down, needing repairs.

Instead of joyriding to her destination, with the windows down and the music cranked up she finds herself lost in a gloomy, dark garage somewhere in woop woop—questioning whether to trade her beloved bug for a newer car.

The Audi S3 coupé driver on the other hand…

Effortlessly drives her zippy car from A to B every day, without delay.

Her ride is fast, reliable, fun and comfortable.

Her car draws the beady, envious looks from passersby at stop lights and zebra crossings.

"Woohoo... yeah keep gawking people. I love my ride," she exclaims as she hits the pedal to the metal and accelerates to the beat of her favourite song.

The Audi S3 accelerates smoothly, flushing her cheeks with the rosy blush of the adrenaline rushing through her body. The summer breeze caresses her hair as she taps her fingers on the steering wheel to the pulsating beat of the music.

She feels ALIVE.

These cars demonstrate an analogy.

The Audi S3 and the VW bug demonstrate the difference between a struggling business model and a business with momentum.

Which one is yours?

Are you the owner of the beat-up VW beetle or are you zipping through the countryside with the wind in your hair and the music blaring as you crank the pedal to the metal in your sporty Audi S3 coupé?

The bug may be cute, but it no longer serves you. You’re burning money with every mile you clock up.

What you require is a new car.

  • A car that gets you from A to B without delay.
  • A car that lets you ride in comfort and safety.
  • A car you can rely on no matter what.

That car is the WAY you operate your business.

Your car is everything, from…

  • Your sales funnels to your business systems
  • Your offerings to the way you price and market them
  • Your mindset to the way you tick off your to-do list
  • Your values to your boundaries
  • Your personality to your ideal client

In short, if you want to SPEED up and drive the zippy car you need to first learn how to slow down!

Focus on the daily tasks that matter to your bottom line.

If you get this wrong you will keep breaking down and get stuck in the most unfortunate situations.

Slowing down is not about stopping everything and taking time out to think. That practice of surrendering has its time and place, for sure. Slowing down efficiently is about putting a stop to the stuff that doesn’t matter and focusing on the stuff that does.

Everything else is just noise!

I guess you need to ask yourself ONE simple question right now:

“Which car do I want to drive in 2021 & 2022?”

The unreliable, cute VW beetle or the racy, sexy Audi S3 coupé.

Because one of them will get you the business momentum and profits you want… the other will cost money, time and hassles—until you trade it in!

Upgrading your (car) business is not cheap. But if you do it wisely you can achieve your wildest dreams. Wealthy Affiliate gives you all the tools you need to make that happen.

I think that I own several beaters, Nika! When the one 'reliable' vehicle--if i owned one--breaks down, I will lose some business! Of course, your analogy is still spot-on!

Well done!

Jeff

Thank you Jeff. I think we're all conscious of that as business owners. Diversification is a wonderful thing. :)

You're very welcome, Nika, and thank you! Enjoy your day!

Jeff

My takeaway is to become more intentional with all the things on my to-do list. Maybe some of them aren’t too important and maybe I should focus on some other aspects!
Thanks for sharing!

I love your takeaway Marla. Thank you so much for sharing.

Being intentional will help you develop great focus and I love that you recognise that some to-dos may not be important so they can easily be scratched off the list.

Hi Nika
I like the idea. My takeaway would be that improving my business processes could be as satifying as upgrading my old car.

However, it seems to me the analogy stops there because I haven't bought a car yet that doesn't devalue from the moment of purchase. Hopefully my business will do the opposite.
:-)
Richard

You're spot on with what you wrote about the devaluation of a car. Sadly, that is correct. The joy lies in being able to drive from A to B without major hassles.

Thanks for sharing your takeaway Richard.

Great Analogy, but I have to admit I love my 17 year old Toyota Hilux ute. Jim

Thank you Jim,

I feel you there. We do love our old cars, they certainly have more character, don't they?
