As Shield S D, is the authorised importer and exporter of the Digent fingerprint readers in RSA. we use the Digent model FD 1000 scanner reader in our small fingerprint attendance systems.

This unit is the Digent FD 1000 fingerprint scanner reader.

The above Digent mouse scanner above is a special designed camera, this unit is used for capturing and registering the employee's / workers fingerprints.

This scanner / camera is a USB unit that gets connected to the USB port on the computer. The Shield software program is coded to activate the firmware drivers of the Digent scanner / camera, to be switched on and off when required.

The above is the registration screen used for the capturing process of the various finger prints on both hands.

Procedure of scanning the fingerprint.

Let us explain the start the scanning process from this point, first the scanner is activated by the clicking a certain button in the software program. During the registration process the scanner light remains off, as the unit is now being used as a camera in this particular function.

A finger is placed onto the lens of the Digent mouse scanner / camera.

By placing the left hand thumb onto the camera lens. a slight pressure from the thumb is required onto the lens., This allows the fingerprint features /named minuta to be pressed onto the lens, displaying all the various positioned minuta points on the lens.

The cursor of the computer is then moved onto the corresponding square window on the screen and clicked, this activates the special coding in the program to start the specially designed camera. This procedure then takes a photo of the thumb print that is placed on the lens of the scanner / camera. The Shield program then saves and stores the image of the fingerprint onto a special memory chip on the PCB, plus the program database and into the personal file of the person.

When the above procedure is completed the fingerprint image gets displayed in the square window that corresponds with the actual finger.
