I am using 'The WP Business' theme. I cannot get a slider to appear. I set featured images for my pages, then go to Customize > Slider Settings > Select slide image page

Hi, Nick!

Certainly no expert here, but have you tried adding a slider plugin to aid the theme in accomplishing what you want?

I found this link: http://slidervilla.com/blog/2016/03/reasons-why-slider-wordpress-site-not-working/

Maybe of some help? Press on . . .

Hey Nick, just wondering if this might help you out...try setting these pages you selected to "custom page template" not the default page templates.

(I'd recommend you try things out on a test site using the same theme on one of the free siterubix sites, which is what I always do before doing any major changes to my "real" sites just to be safe although this change really shouldn't do too much, but it never hurts.)

I gave this a try on one of my test sites. It works to show the sliders on The WP Business theme, by changing the page to a custom template, and you'll also need to go to the "customize" menu and select "static front page."

Next you'll need to choose which page you want as your front page instead of using the blog roll. (I used one that I had selected as one of these slider pages.) Remember to Save and that should be it!

Otherwise, I couldn't find much about it as far as any kind of support or help in setting it up there.

Anyways, hope this helps you out some, and let me know if you have any questions or whether it works or not for you.

Best wishes :) ~Sherry

Thanks, I will try that :)

Hey again Nick,
I'd thought I'd add the image sizes that I found work with these sliders are 1600px x 659px. Otherwise, if they're different sizes it seems to make the page "jump" around.

I had to add another blank page(custom template with the featured image set) and set that as the front page instead of using one I'd already had there, since I couldn't read it then.

Just an FYI, I'd definitely recommend using a test site for this, btw. That's if you want to keep this theme or not, it's a lot of fiddling around though to get things situated using it, especially without much info to go on from the Wordpress.org site.

Hope that helps clarify it a bit better...if you have any questions, feel free to let me know in a PM if you want.

Best wishes :) ~Sherry

Thank you! The static homepage setting was exactly why I couldn't get mine to work.
And turns out... I like my page without it. Haha

Good looking out
Best wishes to you,
Megan

Hi Megan,
Great to hear you've got yours working now! Funny how one little setting can make such a difference. Sorry for such a late reply, btw!

Best wishes :) ~Sherry

I don't know but shouldn't you use the images in your image library instead of the pages the images appear on?

Yes, that's where I'm choosing them from, just I'm choosing a matching image that is already on the page

I can't get it to work either. Go to wordpress.org and click on Themes. Find your theme and look for the theme's support forum. If you can't get answers then try a different theme or a slider plugin.

It should display what ever picture you have set as the "featured image" for that page.
Hope that helps.
Best of Luck,
Megan
