I noticed several people on here got surprise Windows 10 upgrades overnight. I've also heard it amongst my fellow computer and IT friends that it has been happening. Luckily, if it hasn't happened to you, you can stop it before it happens.
Some copies of Windows 7 and 8.1 are coded to automatically update to 10, with or without the user's assistance. (i.e. clicking an upgrade button) There is really no way to tell which computer will upgrade next. So if you are sure you do not want to upgrade to windows 10 (or at least for the moment because you like your current set up) here's how to prevent it.
1. Back up all your information and important documents, photos, ect. Make sure you have a copy on a seperate media of anything you want to keep. Although you should experience no trouble, it is always a good idea to have a back up in case something does happen.
2. Make sure your antivirus or windows defender is working. Again, this is a precautionary step. When you download information from the internet it is important to know the source and to make sure the antivirus and anti-malware you should have installed is working.

3. Go to the search engine of your choice and put in the search term: "never 10" A selection of download links and news articles will appear.
4. Select the link of your choice. I personally would recommend the one put out by gibson research company. However, you can choose another. Their page describes what never 10 does in detail and includes a link to the utility.
5. Download the files.
6. Unpack/launch the program. This is done by finding the downloaded file and double clicking.
7. Follow the on-screen instructions. You're Done! You can now rest easy knowing you won't have a new operating system come out of the blue overnight.
Hope these instructions are helpful to you. If you need any additional information I'd go to google or simply ask in the comments. It is a really straight forward process, I know because I did it to my computer.
Have a great week everyone!
