Meaning of the Quote:

Character building is not something that happens once and done; rather, it begins at birth and culminates at death.

Discussion of the Quote:

Yes, we all wish that we can turn on a switch and quickly become all that we are meant to be - in that- we discover our talents, find our life’s purpose, resolve all of our issues and problems, complete our life’s work, sit back and relax, then put our lives on cruise control and get on with it.

Unfortunately, that is not how “character building” and growth occurs in life. It is not a one and done occurrence - it is a life-long process. As we go through it, we grow and develop along the way.

Final Thoughts:

As we go through life, we become clear and think we know the direction and purpose of our lives. But unexpectedly, life throws us curve balls that push us out of our comfort zones. Therefore, it is best that we recognize that life is not smooth sailing, but rather, it is a process that has ebbs and flows, valleys and peaks and these are the things that build our characters and cause us to grow and develop. Therefore, we should be open to the cycles of growth in ourselves.

“To grow and develop is the normal state for the human organism. I am a human organism. It would be logical, therefore, to assume that growth and development are normal for me.”
