Take your Time to find your niche
Why? Well.. it makes it heck of alot easier to establish some authority and bringing value to your targeted audience. So with that being said, I would say since now we have a free membership, take your time to really have a solid niche before you go buy the premium membership. The reason I say that is for the few of us who will really be stuck on the niche finding, it can seriously hinder progress. Though... I offer a Solution for those looking to find one fast.
You know the live chat that WA has here? USE IT!!. I can not stress this enough. There are SO many helpful folk here that will get you to find the right one for you. Heck, even the owners will talk to you about it (I know I might be a bit of a fanboy, but out of all the programs I've tried, I don't know of any where the owners actually speak to you. If they do, you have to pay a few thousand dollars that you don't have available to even speak to em.) I say truly take the advantage you have here, because I promise you find this any where else.
TLDR (Too Long Didn't Read lol): Take your time finding your niche before you throw your money everywhere and hope things magically happen. Take advantage of what they offer you here and USE THE CHAT!!

Boy is that good advice. I wouldn't invest a lot of money in the beginning because you will want to try things out. You need to experiment with niches to figure out what will work for you. It's a lot of fun, but if you put money into fancy websites and advertising before you're ready, you'll be wasting your money. If you've already done that, well, it's cheaper than opening a brick and mortar store. So, you're ahead of the game.
My sentiments exactly. I mean I lost money because I didn't know the basics and that I became too focused on money. I actually read another member's blog post where my perception of marketing has changed slightly. Learning is one thing I will admit, but applying is another.

Your article is similar to an article I wrote the other day called "The Farmer - Picking My Niche." All of us that have a little experience know of the challenges in affiliate marketing - time and expenditure often with little ROI. I think what Kyle and Carson are getting at is for new members to go ahead and "do," so as to gain experience - maybe fail fast, and, learn the process. With each failure comes experience. technique, and some learning through the process. Personally, I have more stringent criteria in the niche selecting process than what WA recommends in the first training module. But that insight came from experience and many failures.
I actually read it. Heck.. I liked it better than my own blog post haha. However I am more intrigued about you method of finding a niche. If you could elaborate more, that would be awesome. Then I could say "Oh yea.. go read The farmer's blog post, you will learn something guaranteed" lol. ;P
