Trust Your Systems: Growth Happens Before You See It

Every Monday, I like to take a moment to reflect on what keeps us moving forward in business, investing and life. It's also about taking a look at what I've been working on over the past week and the potential future impact on my business.

Today’s reminder is simple but powerful: Success is Built on Systems.

Systems are the framework we build around ourselves to stay consistent. They guide our actions. They remind us what needs to be done. They create momentum — whether we feel like doing something or not.

Refining Systems

In my own business, I’ve spent the past few weeks refining my systems.

• Writing new blogs for the website
• Turning old blogs into evergreen content and updating SEO
• Scheduling social media content
• Recording podcasts
• Updating Analytics

Ensuring everything fits into a clear structure - A checklist. A workflow. A plan.

Some days it feels like the results are invisible. Traffic moves slowly. New followers trickle in one at a time. It would be easy to wonder, "Is this even working?"

But it’s in those moments that I remind myself of the story of the Chinese Bamboo Tree.

The Chinese Bamboo Tree Parable

When you plant a bamboo tree, the seed is carefully placed in the ground. You don’t see anything happen for the first year.
Or the second.
Or the third.
Or even the fourth.

You water the seed, tend the soil, care for the ground — and nothing seems to change.

But beneath the surface, the bamboo is growing an incredibly strong root system, preparing to support massive growth.

And then, in the fifth year, something amazing happens - The bamboo tree explodes out of the ground and can grow up to 80 feet tall in just a few weeks.

The bamboo grew 80 feet as a result of 4 years of carefully watering the root.

Business is exactly the same.

The systems you build — your blogs, your videos, your podcasts, your SEO, your branding etc. —
they are the roots of your business.

They grow invisibly at first.

They build strength underneath the surface.

And then one day, the visible success shoots upward — seemingly all at once.

If you're building your online business, your investments, or your personal brand, trust your systems.

Let your checklist be your guide when motivation wavers. Tick off each task, even the small ones. Remind yourself that progress is created by consistency, not by bursts of inspiration.

One day, you’ll look back and realise the tiny daily actions you barely noticed completely transformed your future — just like the bamboo.
