In my previous blog, I mentioned how I asked Google AI - Gemini to do a Top 10 websites in my niche and what I could do to get to number 1. This is an update for my first week of working on the website rankings.

Plan Evergreen Content

It started with a plan my website to the top, as a result with a series of action steps that will be taken over the coming months.

One of the steps is reviewing older content and making SEO-driven updates. That has involved transforming timed market updates into evergreen content.

Originally, many of my posts focused on market conditions or economic events happening at that particular moment. While those were relevant at the time, they’ve since lost traction in search results contributing to my website receiving lower Google ranking.

Google is rewarding helpful, lasting content — not news-style updates that are quickly outdated.

That’s why I’ve been reworking older blogs to remove dated references and instead focus on core strategies, timeless principles, and long-term value. These updates are not only improving my average search position in Google, within a week my website average ranking has gone up 12 points and that is with just 4 blogs updated, but it is also helping to bring in new traffic.

For example, One blog “Pushing the Boundaries" was a motivational blog with investment tips for 2021. That no longer applies. It has been reworked into "Pushing the Boundaries - 4 Investment Strategies" making it evergreen content.

If you're building an online business, reviewing old content is one of the smartest long-term SEO moves you can make. Evergreen content compounds — just like good investments.

One change I made was the SEO plugin I was using. I looked for one that could provide more insight.

There are free SEO plugins available on Wordpress.

To make a decision on which plugin to use, I asked my favourite AI - ChatGPT to provide the pros and cons for each one. The one it would recommend and why. Installed it and followed its guidance.

The result my website is starting to slowly but surely improve its search ranking.

My lesson from this week is to review content regularly and change timely content into timeless evergreen content.
