Take NOTHING for granted - plan each day with CARE

Every day we get up, with our plans to go throughout the day

Do you ever think for one moment that something can abruptly interrupt our carefully laid plans

This morning was a bright and well planned morning for me

I started my day as I intended to, with nothing to worry about.

When I gave my youngest daughter her morning hug, I felt her flinched.

That was a bit unusual, so I examined her immediately because I noticed that her spine was unusually tender at the lumbar region.

Hmm, I thought after questioning her. No injury but tender to touch - that's a red flag.

Scary Diagnosis

I then booked an appointment with my GP, who was 5 mins walking distance from me.

She, too, sounded concerned while talking to me beforehand on the phone.

She examined her and then told me that I needed to rush her to the hospital, pushing the referral latter hurriedly into my hand.

I work under stress, but I am used to doing analytical thinking. I watched the doctor doing the same exam that I do to my patients every day.

I was sure she wasn't doing it correctly, but I said nothing.

Emergency

Anyway, I took her to the Emergency hospital but reading the referral on the way.

My hand trembled when I read that she wanted her to do tests to rule out cancer.

It was my child; could I have missed something when I examined her?

Do you know how hard it is to try to remain calm and act naturally in front of a child, trying not to let them think that anything is wrong?

Say what?

It was the most challenging 4 hours of my life. She was seen shortly afterwards by a Paediatrician consultant, and after a thorough examination, she was free to go.

It turned out that my GP's finding was incorrect.

I was so relieved that I started crying. I lost my mom to cancer just two months ago, and now this!

But I am still cautious in my thoughts. Even though the Paediatric consultant explained it to me, I won't be satisfied until my colleagues see her.

Sometimes we take everything for granted that it will always be there until we get a health scare.

Until next time

Simone

Wow that must have been very scary, glad to know your daughter will be fine.
It's good that you had the insight to get her immediately checked out.

Before reading this I was contemplating going to the Doctor on my next day off about a few issues I've been neglecting or just not wanting to face.
Now, I definitely will go.

You're right, we should take nothing for granted.

Simone, my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family.

Blessings.
Melanie

Thank you Melanie. It was a very scary situation indeed.
It is also great to have good insights , a second inkling so to speak.
Thank you for your offer of prayers. It is highly appreciated.

You're very welcome my friend.
Take care.

You too ;)

Good morning Simone,

I'm sorry that you had to go through this experience, however, I am glad that all is well with your daughter. I'm sure the experience is made even larger through recently losing your mum.

I'm sure it's very difficult to stay calm in this type of situation, however, we always need to stay calm.

I'm thankful that I have faith, although I don't have any children, we need to pray for them and for their well-being and future. I am privileged to have seen the miraculous, so I know it works, I believe you do too!

Have a great day,

Roy

I do Roy and a large part of me is also thinking that this is God divine intervention.
You are correct in saying that this has brought back some memories of my beautiful mom
It has really been a very trying time for me
Nevertheless, I still had to remain calm all throughout those horrible moment.

Good morning Simone,

My apologies for the late reply, it's been a busy week.

Life seems to be full of challenges at times and yet it is so important to focus on the good things! This is easier said than done sometimes though, I must admit! I'm so pleased that you are remaining calm, especially in front of your daughter. I believe that calmness and thinking the right things (being the truth that sets us free) brings freedom!

Have a great Sunday.

Roy

I appreciate your support and response Roy.
Have an awesome Sunday

A pleasure Simone!

It is often way easier to go through something like that yourself than to watch someone you love go through it. When my daughter had to have 23 facial reconstruction surgeries and when wife died of cancer I'd have done anything to have it be me instead. But you gotta just keep on keeping on. Go glad it was just a bad diagnosis. Praying for you Simone.

Steve, I would prefer that it was me than her.
I will do all I can to ensure I have full peace of mind
Thank you Steve for stopping by

Sweetie I am so sorry, I can not imagine what was going through your mind this morning. I know your mind will not rest easy until you have a full explanation. Right now thankfully baby girl is doing well. You and and Baby girl will be in my prayers.

Stay Strong Simone,
Gwendolyn

Gwendolyn, I thank you for your offer of prayers.
She is sleeping beside me now in bed.
I will do all I can to ensure my mind is at rest.
It is a pleasure hearing from you

I'm so sorry you had to go through that Simone.
I am familiar with that type of situation. I've had to do it myself.
I'm glad your daughter was cleared to go home.
I would get a second opinion for sure.
Praying for you and your daughter.

Hold tight, stay strong
Sheena

Thank you, Sheena
I will do all I can to put my mind at ease.
It is a pleasure stopping by
