What is the purpose of goals?

I have seen people not quite certain how to take that question. To put it in its most simple form. Goals get you from where you are right now to where you want to be.

If you take the example of a person who wants to have a cup of coffee. He decides in his mind " I would like a cup of coffee" that is his destination [GOAL]. He knows how he is going to achieve that goal , the steps to get there are all automatic. He has been doing it for a long time and he can most probably do it in his sleep.

He wonders to the kitchen, fills up his water jug and does what he has to do in sequence to achieve his goal - his cup of coffee. The sequence are:

  • Thought implanted in his mind,
  • Check different options to find best way to achieve the goal
  • Execution of the preferred steps.
  • Adjust steps if not working
  • Final positive Results

You cannot achieve a result if you do not know what the goal is.

When setting Financial goals it is important that your mind is clear on what it has been tasked to achieve.Set goals that are specific and measurable. Instead of saying you want to have enough money to pay your bills or mortgage, think of the AMOUNT of money you’ll need.

If you know where you are headed then you can make plans, devise a strategy and utilize the tools available to craft your journey to your GOAL!.

Visit, re-visit and review goals frequently and never be afraid to adjust them. Fine tune goals to make them more effective as well as consistently at the forefront of thought.
