Guest blogging collaboration with others

A couple of weeks ago I added a comment on Allyn Beekman’s website as he had put a request for comments on the WA give and take comment thread. My comment hinted at a personal experience related to his website theme, which is Eliminate Heel Pain. As a follow up Allyn emailed me with a request, he was looking for personal stories for his site, so he asked if I would be willing to write an article as a guest on his site and in return he would write and article for my site.

I thought this was a great idea so I set about writing my story of how I had first suffered from Plantar Fasciitis (heel pain), the steps I had taken to overcome it and how I finally managed to cure the problem. I sent this to Allyn and he did some keyword research to get the best keywords for rankings and relevancy, he then made some minor tweaks to the article to get those keywords included and added some relevant images. He included an attribution for me as the article author and a link to my site.

Allyn then wrote his article for my site on choosing the best footwear for vacations and sent this to me. I followed the same process of keyword research, tweak the article to add the keywords in the title and in the content, add images and the attribution for him as the author and a link to his site.

We now both have guest articles on each other’s websites with an external link each to our websites. So you can see what we did, here are the links to the two articles:

My article on Allyn’s site

Allyn’s article on my site

We also did one more thing to get another external link each. On my Google+ profile page I added myself as a current contributor to Allyn’s website and he added himself as a current contributor on my site. We are hoping this will also raise our trust rating with Google.

This is just a start as the content in the article should allow each of us to include affiliate links or link out to review articles that we would write as a follow up.

NOTE: There are no promotions in either of the articles yet (as of the date of this post) so we are not spamming.

I’m not sure if anyone else has done this kind of thing here at WA but I thought it was worth mentioning in case anyone can see the benefit of collaborating with others here at WA in a similar way?

Neil

Great idea!

This worked out really well for us. I hadn't thought about the Google+ link until Neil mentioned it but it was another great way to get a legitimate link to our sites.

I know that BrooklynPhil has blogged previously about using other WA members as guest bloggers. He was the one that inspired me to react to Neil's comment on my site.

The two of us have talked about forming a small "support" group with a couple others where we get involved with each other's sites to help support with comments and possibly guest blogging occasionally. Let us know if that might be of interest to you. Obviously, it's best if we can find a way to tie our website topics together.

Sounds Good. We can all help each.

I think that's a great idea. Maybe there should be a group or topic where people get guest collaboration with their specific niche.

That is a great idea. Interested in a collaboration with a mediocre but very enthusiastic blogger? My topics are: Success Coaching, Psychic Readings, Health/Diet.

What are the URLs for your sites? I can't see them on your profile page.

I have sent you a pm
