Finished course 2 at last!

I have finally finished course 2 in the training, which has taken me much longer than I thought it would with research and content creation taking the biggest chunk of time. BUT, the result is I now have a web site to build upon and take to the next levels – http://toptipsforholidays.com

Even though it can be frustrating at times when progress seems slow, I love the task based training here at WA. If you truthfully complete all the tasks in each lesson (which I have done) you can’t just blast through the training and it leads you down a path which results in the creation of a website that people will engage with and get ranked. You will also learn how to do stuff the right way in the right order.

It has been about 9 years since I was involved in web design full time, so getting involved in the design elements of creating my web site has been a two sided story. I am very out of practice and the creative process takes longer than I imagined it would. On the flip side I love using creative skills again.

Previously when I created websites they would be designed and built from scratch the old way, using graphics tools and hand coding html, css and javascript. A slow process, you bet!! Wordpress is fabulous in that it lets you get a site up and running quickly, although getting to know the quirks of Wordpress, choosing a theme and getting it to do exactly what you want it to do has been a bit of a learning curve as well.

Where I have needed to go and find something out for myself on how to do something, I have found the archive of weekly live video classes an invaluable resource. There are so many topics covered in these videos and Jay gives many extra tips and tricks in addition to the main topic of the video.
