My Biggest Challenge Yet?

One of the most difficult things for me to do has always been to balance work and life. I tend to go 100% on either one of them - rarely 50/50. Every time I take "vacation", I end up doing absolutely nothing on my websites. When I come home, I pretty much work 7 days a week.

But on Sunday I'm leaving for a 20 day trip from LA to New York on my motorcycle! I definitely can't let things slide for 20 days...

Well...I probably could if I really wanted to, but I wouldn't want to deal with the consequences later on. It usually goes that work I do today (or lack of) produces results a month or two down the road.

Anyway, my big challenge for July is to maintain my business while being on the road. It's not as easy as it sounds! After a day of riding, it can be easy to just want to go the bar or watch Netflix at the hotel.

Goals for July

  • Maintain contact with my referrals (answer PMs, emails, questions)
  • Publish a blog post every day (I have them saved as drafts)
  • Edit some draft content for my newest niche site every day

That's pretty much it. It doesn't sound like much, but I think the support aspect of PMs and emails will keep me quite busy, and I still want to save some time to sightsee a bit.

Anyway, I haven't been in WA much this month because I've been planning for this trip; buying gear, tuning up the motorcycle, and booking hotels. On Sunday I leave for LA, and then it's off to NYC!

Hold down the fort while I'm away :) I'll post pics when I get back.

Have a good one :)

Enjoy your trip. And it's good you have a plan

Have a great time!

I like the 100/0 rather than 50/50...I do something like that....Enjoy your lovely trip and drive safe...LA - NYC is almost the whole country , right?

Use Buffer.com to schedule you social media.

You are coming to my neck-of-the-woods? If you find yourself in Northern NJ and you want to have some really great craft beer, we can meet for a couple or few at my favorite local bar Andy's Corner Bar in Bogota, NJ only 5.3 miles from upper NYC via the George Washington Bridge. PM me if this is something you would like to do. Just to get you craving some craft beer, here is their latest menu. :-)

I'm on a pretty tight schedule to make the trip in less than a month...and already booked hotels..but will definitely look for an opportunity to hang out.

I missed so may good breweries on the east coast, that I will probably return at some point to do an east coast tour at some point. So disappointed I won't make Dogfish Head, Ommegang, and Sam Adams. Might get to Brooklyn Brewery...and excited for Wicked Weed!

I can totally understand if time doesn't allow. As for visiting east coast breweries, you better plan a one month vacation here and make sure you fly out and rent a car to make better use of your time. LOL

My friend Neil has his own microbrewery in Pearl River, NY, Defiant Brewing Company, about 35-40 minutes north of here. I feel so bad that I haven't visited and he has been there for 10 years. I guess when I can get his brew on tap at my local bar, I figure, why drive all that way?

Dogfish Head and Ommegang are awesome, too bad you'll miss those. I've heard about Wicked Weed, my sister just moved to Asheville not long ago. Definitely let me know how that goes!

Have a great trip Nathaniell!

That's awesome Nathaniell. I'm sure it would be a fantastic trip. I've been to NY in 2012 and it's amazing. Wish I could join you there haha.

Keep us posted. Would love to see some pics!

Look forward to pics - enjoy and have a fantastic time. Sounds soooo exciting - me next year less the motorcycle!!!

Have a great trip! You have an adventure in front of you :)

With your goals you'll have at least one to two hours of work every day. On some days this might be to much.

Good luck for the trip and for the work!
