Today, I had a company contact me to feature their product on my website. I'd love to make a deal with them as the product is somewhat unique and they even have a patent-pendin
I'd reach back out to them and, in a tactful way, say "what do I get out of it"...
I'd probably ask if they have an affiliate program (one of the drone companies I do business with didn't at the time but set up a special link just for me, kind of a make-shift affiliate program.
Sometimes you just get the product in exchange for the review. In the end, it's up to you to set the terms. They may or may not accept them.
How to handle a requested product review?

There are many ways to handle this:
Ask for a special link or any way to identify and track your sales.
Ask for a flat fee to review the product and feature them (requires a disclaimer on your post as a paid review).
Ask for free product in exchange for a review.
It's up to you how you want to handle it, but this is a great opportunity for you! Many people rely on sponsored content for the bulk of their income in the recipe/food blog niche, so I know companies will pay big for sponsored content.
Maybe try a "Sponsored Content" or "Work With Me" menu item on your site so more companies can get in contact with you. You can even use this first test article as a way to advertise the quality and effectiveness of your sponsored content services.
