Automating my posts to Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest

I am doing an experiment with some tools:

  • Zimmwriter for generating a plan
  • chatGPT to generate hashtags for the posts
  • sociamonials for scheduling the posts
  • google sheets to organize everything

This is NOT for the faint of heart. But in 3 days I now have 3 posts a day to pinterest and facebook for the next 10 months (about 900 posts each).

Here is what I did.
1. ZimmWriter is a swiss army knife, but not free. It's $25/mo (now $500 forever until sometime in december). One of it's many features is the ability to scrape your site and take your existing images and create social media posts. The output is a spreadsheet.
2. I uploaded that spreadsheet to google sheet and made some changes. First, freeze the headers so you can do sorting. You will do LOTS of sorting.
3. Next category ids. I need real categories so I can generate good hashtags and know what to post to which pinterest boards. Sort by category id. Create another column next to the category id column. Then go back to wordpress and look for posts->categories. Hover over each category to find out what category id it is. Then put that name or a shortened unique version in the table
4. Date time. Sociamonials (from sumo for about $59), is a scheduling tool. But it wants year, month, day, hour, minute, not a date/time. You need to create columns for each of those, then put in the formulas so that you break them up, But you want to keep the datetime value around to be able sort.
5. OK now that you have categories and datetime, sort by category then datetime
6. Finally schedule each category as a separate block, using chat to generate hashtags based on the categories and posts, and a new pinterest board for each category

Result? In a few days in my copious spare time, I got 900+ posts to my facebook and pinterest pages, 3 a day!

Now I am going back and doing the same for my cyber blog. I have 500 of those to schedule to FB, pinterest and linkedIn for the next 6 months.

Will post in the future once I have numbers on how this experiment went.

The cost? Well $25 a month for ZimmWriter, $59 for sociamonials, a few cents of scrape owl to scrape my site ($5/mo license available through zimwriter), and a few cents of chat gpt API time to do the analysis

Sounds like a lot of different tools and a bit complicated to me Michael!!

Yes it's complicated. But with the workflow I scheduled out 900+ posts on pinterest and facebook. And I am seeing clicks on some of them almost immediately.

These days, social media is the best way to get traffic to your online spaces.
