How do you get motivated?
Motivation is the drive to achieve a goal. It is what gets us out of bed in the morning and keeps us going when things are tough. Without motivation, we would never accomplish anything.
There are many different sources of motivation. Some people are motivated by extrinsic factors, such as money or rewards. Others are motivated by intrinsic factors, such as desire to learn or improve. Some people are motivated by a combination of extrinsic and intrinsic factors.
Motivation can come from various sources and can be influenced by both internal and external factors. Here are some common sources of motivation:
Intrinsic Motivation: This comes from within a person and is driven by personal satisfaction and the enjoyment of the task itself. Examples include pursuing a hobby, learning a new skill, or working on a passion project.
Extrinsic Motivation: This comes from external rewards or consequences. It includes things like financial incentives, grades, recognition, or praise. While extrinsic motivation can be effective in the short term, intrinsic motivation tends to be more sustainable.
Goals and Dreams: Having clear goals and a vision for the future can be a powerful source of motivation. People often work hard and stay committed when they have something specific they want to achieve.
Self-Determination Theory: This theory suggests that people are motivated when they feel a sense of autonomy, competence, and relatedness. When individuals feel that they have control over their actions, are capable of achieving their goals, and have meaningful connections with others, they are more likely to be motivated.
Self-Efficacy: This concept, proposed by Albert Bandura, relates to a person's belief in their ability to succeed in a particular task or situation. High self-efficacy is often a source of motivation because individuals who believe they can accomplish something are more likely to put in the effort to achieve it.
Social and Peer Pressure: Social influences, such as the expectations of family, friends, or colleagues, can be a significant source of motivation. People may work harder to meet the expectations or gain approval from their social circle.
Fear and Consequences: Sometimes, the fear of negative consequences can be a strong motivator. This might include the fear of failure, the fear of missing out, or the fear of disappointing others.
Passion and Interest: When people are passionate about a particular subject or activity, they are often highly motivated to engage in it. Passion can drive individuals to put in extra effort and time.
Inspirational Role Models: Seeing others who have achieved success or overcome challenges can be motivating. Role models can inspire individuals to work toward similar accomplishments.
Incentives and Rewards: Tangible rewards such as bonuses, promotions, or prizes can motivate individuals to work harder or achieve specific goals.
Intrinsic Satisfaction: The feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that comes from completing a task or making progress toward a goal can be a powerful source of motivation.
Competition: Healthy competition, whether with others or oneself, can be motivating. The desire to outperform or improve can drive people to work harder.
Personal Values and Beliefs: Aligning one's actions with their values and beliefs can be a strong source of motivation. When individuals feel that what they are doing is meaningful and in line with their principles, they are more motivated.
Mastery and Skill Development: The opportunity to learn, grow, and master new skills can be motivating. People often find fulfillment in the process of improving their abilities.
Mental and Emotional States: Emotions such as enthusiasm, determination, and a positive mindset can fuel motivation. Conversely, negative emotions like anger, frustration, or a desire for revenge can also serve as temporary motivators.
External Events and Milestones: Upcoming events or deadlines, such as exams, presentations, or important meetings, can provide motivation to prepare and perform well.
Remember that motivation can be complex and may vary from person to person. What motivates one individual may not necessarily motivate another. Additionally, motivation can fluctuate over time, so it's essential to understand your own sources of motivation and adapt strategies accordingly.
No matter what your source of motivation is, it is important to find ways to keep yourself motivated. There are many different ways to do this. Some people find it helpful to set goals, track their progress, and celebrate their successes. Others find it helpful to surround themselves with positive people and to create a supportive environment.
If you are struggling to find motivation, there are a few things you can do. First try to identify what is important to you. What are your goals? What do you want to achieve? Once you know what you want, you can start developing a plan to achieve it.
Then break down your goals into smaller, more manageable steps. This will make it seem less daunting and more achievable
Find a way to make your goals more personal. What will it mean to you when you achieve your goals?

That's an awesome post, Maria. There is a lot of stuff we don't think about in the hustle and bustle of daily living. It's good to sit down and reflect on what motivates us or not. I think I might just do a rejig after reading your post. Thank you for sharing your insights.
I feel honored that you are giving credit to my blog as you plan to rejig Alex! That's heartwarming!
The assiduity of life pulls us from various directions, making us to loose focus thereby decrease motivation. Reflecting helps as you reformulate.
Appreciate your kind affirmation Alex!
Cheers,

Hi, Maria
To get motivated I just grab a guitar, and about two hours later it works! Lol 😂
Rock On! 🤘
Frank 🎸
Does it really takes 2 hours to work Frankie🎸😎???
In that case, I will just play my music 🎶 and dance 💃🏽 to let the spirit of motivation be awakened ~ it will take seconds for me to get grooving’ !!! 😂
Cheers,

Haha, Sometimes even longer, Maria!
Before I know it 2 or 3 hours have flown by and I might still need another hour of guitar playing for the motivation to “fully” kick in! Lol 😂🤣🎸🎶🎵🎶
Hahahaha! That is a slow-release form of motivation!
When it works, there is also a slow-release dissipation!
Keep rockin’ !!!
Cheers,
Maria 🌹
I feel that to motivate yourself, you must first know yourself.
I get motivation in being me - being unique, the odd one who swims upstream, and doesn't follow the crowd.
Appreciate the post, Maria.
