My heart overflows as I share the success of our recent “Operation: Free Cataract Surgery “ Medical Mission in the rural area of the Philippines. It wasn’t just a week of medical service; it was a humbling experience, and I felt I needed to give more

Our mission focused on restoring sight to those who couldn’t afford cataract surgery, a chance to literally give back the gift of vision. Equipped with supplies and rented equipment, we set up a temporary clinic, did eye assessment, be an instrument in transforming Hope into reality. As the mission was accomplished, we were able to have 14 patients have their cataract surgery, helped them restore their sight.

“As much is given, much is required “ holds a powerful message about life, responsibility, and the interconnectedness of our experiences. What we received : the blessings, talents, opportunities and resources could be use to help others. What is required: our responsibilities, contributions, and the positive impact we can make on the world.

The more we receive in life, the greater is the responsibility we have to use those blessings, and use those gifts wisely and contribute meaningfully. It’s not about feeling obligated or burdened, but about recognizing the potential we have to make a difference.

Everyone has different gifts and circumstances. The important thing is to recognize your own unique potential and use it to make a better place, even in small ways. It’s about appreciating what you have and using it to contribute to something bigger than yourself.

While we were there, we visited the community school and provided treats to the school children. It was a delight to see the kids’ joyful smiles as they received the surprise treats. Reaching beyond the clinic walls, sharing simple joy with the next generation, brought me to a journey of great human connection, the privilege of making a difference.

“As much is given, much is required “ This quote whispers a truth - we all have something to offer, no matter how seemingly insignificant. By embracing our blessings and using them responsibly, we contribute to a world where every scale finds its balance, and every life shines a little brighter. It’s not about repayment, but about becoming a beacon of kindness, leaving the world a little better than you found it, one meaningful step at a time.

Hey! My friend Maria,
I came across your blog and was truly inspired by you and your team's excellent work during your medical mission. It's heartwarming to see that people like you still go out of their way to help those in need. The fact that you were able to help numerous people suffering from eye conditions like cataracts and glaucoma is genuinely commendable. It's great to see that your hard work has made a significant difference in the lives of so many people. Keep up the great work, and continue to inspire others with your dedication and passion.

God bless!

Joyce

Thank you Joyce! And because of this that we had a chance to meet and establish a lifelong friendship!
I enjoyed the Cebu mangoes very much! Thank you again!

Cheers,
Maria🌹

You're welcome, Maria!

I'm glad you enjoyed the mangoes, and it's lovely to hear that you've established a lifelong friendship! Cheers to that! :-)))

And thank you! I enjoyed the excellent time to see you and the lunch meetup in Cebu. And yes, I had great memories to cherish with you and the beautiful friendship, too. Let's plan another get-together next to my place, my friend.

All the best to you and blessings!

Thanks so very much,

Joyce

Great job MT teaming up with like-minded professionals in the Philippines to remove cataracts and restore the vision of the less privileged. I shudder to think of the joy this humble undertaking will bring to your hearts! We are mere custodians of whatever we have, we do not own them. God intends for us to use them in acts of kindness to unlock our blessings.

Indeed Dada! And such fulfilling experience gets even more perceived when the realization of abundant blessings is so evident. There is no way one can’t give back if one is blessed with so much! “As much is given, much is required”

Cheers,
Maria🌹

Fantastic work Maria. That is really worthwhile work and very important.
That eye staring out of the green sheets is a bit scary.
What do you do if you want to blink.
Bux

There is a guide wire that would prevent the patient from blinking. The patient would receive eyedrops to help dilate the eyes, and a local anesthetic is given during the procedure. Immediately following the surgery, the patient would feel a little discomfort, like a feeling that something foreign got into the eye, so it is important to prevent scratching the eye, no lifting, no forward movements, until it heals for about a month. Eye drops were provided for each patient until it heals!

Cheers,
Maria🌹

Fascinating work, I couldn't do it. Bravo to every one of you.
Bux

Thank you Bux!

Frankie 🎸 😎 !

Cheers,

Yeah, it would be for me, too!

Those of us who are lucky enough to have more need to help those in need, and I salute you, Maria. 👍👍😎

Frank 🎸

We all have something to offer, no matter how little or insignificant it would appear to be! As for those in need, it would mean so much more! Seeing the smiles on those innocent faces of the kids when they learned that they are getting surprised treats from us was priceless! It cost as few cents for each kid’s joy. For them, that was very significant! Sooo heartwarming Frankie 🎸😎 !!!

You summed it up better than I ever could, Maria! 😎

Frank 🎸

This is wonderful. I’m glad for my glasses, it would be awful not seeing correctly

Same here Kathie! My eyeglass would help me see, thus I can imagine the real significance of vision being re-established for one person..

Cheers,
Maria🌹
