Are you the kind of person that gets side tracked with distractions? Have you found yourself wondering where all the time went and not feel like you have accomplished what you set out to do?

I have to force myself to avoid distractions. Often I find myself saying I work best under pressure. Needless to say I recognize its the time limit that motivates. Sure I can leave an assignment until I have to pull an all nighter to tie up loose end, but who really wants to put that kind of pressure on yourselves?

I am learning the benefits of mapping out a time frame and setting myself mini challenges. Practising completing things with a deadline in mind. It is so much more gratifying to complete a task or project on schedule than to feel the unnecessary weight and disappointment that procrastination tends to leave you feeling. You end up under more pressure and stressed and perhaps not doing your best work.

Nowadays I challenge myself to have mini goals, some daily, some I expect to complete within a week and other longer term goals. Looking back at all the achievements I have completed I realise the common factor that allowed me to achieve that which I wanted was, creating the expectation, setting a time limit and first and foremost 'having a goal' to work towards and most importantly a date that I wanted to achieve it by.

Every time I have a goal I actually achieved it. If all it takes is creating realistic goals, then I know I can jump out of the vicious circle of procrastination. If YOU want to challenge yourself and begin to realise what you are capable of, try creating your own deadlines and make sure you have your goals established. No more procrastinating. This has helped me break away from my previous habit of putting things off until later. It feels much more satisfying to be an action taker.

Hi T, Thank you for sharing, I agree, mini goals do get accomplished most of the time. All the best to you Cheers

Yep, been there - done that. So I too set goals. Often though something came up that forced a second goal to arise that was a higher priority. So I did get things done but not often in the original order. Now, with WA, the goals are all mine and not a boss's. I do on occasion find something interesting while pursuing these goals but manage to pull myself away (jotting them as future goals) and getting back on track.

Sounds like you are practising good self discipline. :)

This is so on time for me!!.thank you for sharing!!.time Managment is my issue and need to stay focus

That is all very well but you need to set your goals/mini goals so that they are achievable. Otherwise we welcome back procrastination!

Yes Strap. I totally agree with you. If we set a goal too far flung we tend to set ourselves up for failure. That is a good lesson in itself.
