It's OK to have obstacles

Today I wanted to complete a couple of tasks yet ran up against obstacles. I do not have an income producing job and have enjoyed my teachings here with WA. I am also pleased with my progress. It is evident that I have accomplished way more by actually creating a website, learning to fill out content I am at the point of actually chosing keywords to incorporate into a new blog that I will ad to my page. There are many things to learn to properly market online and as a beginner I want to be careful to progress through my training and do it properly. I want to solve the little glitches as they come up. NOT keep me from progressing. But as I mentioned today I did not achieve that. I wandered around WA community encouraging and welcoming others, researching for my niche etc.

I suppose because I did not correct a couple of issues I had encountered it side tracked me off to easier tasks. I suppose I am coming to terms with how I veered off of my goals. It is not as though I didn't learn anything today. I will get back on track tomorrow. Even is your progress is not visible to others and you know you invested time on your interests, it IS still making progress. Sometimes I have to learn to ease up on my own expectations. As a new learner, where there is much material to cover, I know it will all come together in time. I hope anyone reading this will find encouragement in continuing at a pace that makes sense to you. I want to practise giving myself kudos for keeping my focus on learning towards my niche. Even if it is not measurable ON my website. Sometimes the planning of it and all the mental energy we focus on our niches is what will motivate us to the next level.

I want to remind myself it is ok to take the time it takes. even if you or I get side tracked by other duties, that may have required your attention. Sometimes as long as you are making baby steps towards your goals, it's ok. It just make take a little longer. Often I have read that we should 'enjoy the journey'. Isn't that what life is all about. We all know we get there in the end. Just keep at it.

I totally agree with everything in this post, especially your mention of "enjoy the journey'. It can be so easy to be focused on the ultimate outcome that we forget all that we're learning and all the ways we're growing along the way...whether that be here at WA or in any area of life! Thanks for sharing! It's a great reminder!

I am glad you appreciated the post. I write it to benefit in my own mind too! Yet I especially like to think having said so helps anyone else who can relate. Might just be my small way of helping others. Cheers! Thanks for stopping in for a comment.

The idea of welcoming and sharing with WA members is wonderful but it does take up time. I often find gems of wisdom contained in the responces of others to blogs and questions so I do skim these and save the gems to a word document for future reference. So the problem is do I save time by not reading/responding or do I access the gems. What an enigma!

Helen I like your idea of saving the gems to a word document. Thanks for the suggestion. We could certainly spend much time sifting through all the various forums here. At least you can get back to it quick for reference if you have saved it. :) Build on

And you can search you whole word document for the key word.

Its important to take stock have a coffee and just take a look at how far you have come, beating yourself up is not the way forward and progress does not have to visible, you know with every day that you are learning you are progressing and it does not matter at what pace, I know that we all learn at different speeds and if you are not comfortable, you will not learn.

Gary, I am learning to accept and be kind to myself and allow what ever pace I set. so longs as it is IN a forward motion. :)

I love this post! If only life would stop for a while and just let us get on with our websites and training - but life is what happens while you're making other plans. It's all about re-routing, staying unruffled...and getting there in your own unique timing. I'm not talking about procrastination (though I can be rather good at that, too), but about pacing and adapting. These last couple of weeks, I've been quite absent from WA due to family crises and am only now getting back to my site-building and training. Living with chronic illness has taught me to carefully pace all my activities (where possible) and to realize that I can, indeed, achieve much by being the tortoise and not the hare. And when I'm knocked off my feet, as I am often, I've learned not to give up - that there will be a good day again soon. Thanks for sharing this on your blog.

Thanks for the reply MelJen. I think in just writing it without concern with where I am was therapeutic for me. Sometimes in reading other blogs or even in the act of writing them I learn from what I type. It helps me reinforce that it is ok to take the time it takes. Just keep at it. I am truly and loving it I love the creative aspect.

Today I looked at a few other websites to see what other new learners have created and in doing just that, I get ideas and see what seems to work. I know I will change up my website a lot in time. That is the fun of it. It is also fun to search on google for your own website and see it come up. I am wondering if the number suggests what ranking you get on google placement Mine said something like 47. If there are approximately 10 links per page I was thinking it might mean I had three pages above mine. Learning as I go. Have a great weekend coming up. :)
