I have been reading WA blog posts these last few weeks. Most blogs have useful information we can all use. But it seems lately there have been some that do not contain the information I would be looking for here at WA.

Some blogs are posting a quote. Some have a word or two. Others are incomplete questions or ideas. I realize that sometimes we press a wrong button. You can delete those posts. No harm.

Blogging just to blog is not beneficial to the community. When you want to write a blog think about the impact it will on the WA community. Are you giving an update on your progress, are you sharing information that will benefit the community, are you sharing a life experience. Great that is what most members want to read.

Blog to share and not as a way to get ranking in WA. Your overall participation in the community will benefit your WA ranking which includes helping others by answering questions and leaving comments.

Thanks for listening. Looking forward to seeing all your future blogs.

Debbie

I like the BLOG sign! Is it BOLD or what? lol I get your point! But I'm no blogger. ha!

Thanks.

Well, finally! I think reading some of these off the wall blogs are entertaining. Yet, I don't have time to be entertained! I'm trying to run a business here!
So to keep my message short….mind if I re-post your post... occasionally!?! I don't know if you can do that, though. lol Thank You.

Thanks for reading and responding. You can copy the link on this article to share with others on WA or your website.

Good post Debbie!

Thank you for your comment.

Well i must confess i like this blog. It knocks sense into my head. Thank you. A thumbs up for this

Thank you for commenting.

Hello, My thought on this is not to like the stuff that has nothing to do with helping the community and the progression of how people are doing... If you don't comment or like the post that comes up. That way their post will go no where... Way to go on voicing your thoughts.

Thank you for your comments.

Oh, now you're raising the bar on me. I can't just dribble any more?

Thanks for your comment.

We'll have no more dribbling from you Wayne!

There is the odd one though that is no better than a Facebook post!

Debbie does have a point, imagine checking your email and you have 60/70+ emails cos folk are posting nonsensical stuff, thankfully that doesn't happen that often.

Thank you for reading and leaving a comment.

Nah I don't think it does happen that much here. We're all paying members - we don't pay to be nonsensical - we pay to get feedback from others who are on the same journey.

FB - definitely - the amount of people that post "my breakfast this morning" - really, who cares? Or "I just love my mom" - really, you're her son/daughter - of course you do - tell "her" not us!!!!

Cheers, Mark

I did say "odd one" we are all trying to achieve goals and all need a little help now and again. I was just visioning a worst case scenario.

I understand your frustrations and also feel that people should not blog just to get higher rankings. But part of the WA ethos is to encourage people to express themselves and if they have incomplete ideas it's way better to put them out there on the WA blog than on their website where the public judge them. We just have to take the good with the bad and support those people trying out their wings.

Thanks for commenting.

Hi Debbie.

If I read your blog post in the context of the message you're getting across in your blog post, I would think "why did you post this - what does it contribute to me?"

I don't mean to sound harsh at all - just constructive.

People post to try things out - and to get over the feeling of "I can't post a blog - what do I know about it?" - and if that helps them, even if there is nothing in their post to benefit me, then I'm 100% behind them for doing it.

I can't write - I don't know how to - English (although my first language) was my worst subject at school. I just didn't get it. But after posting a couple of SA's and getting my website up and running, and most importantly getting the feedback from the community here saying well done - and here's "our" comments to help you make it better next time - I'm slowly beginning to build some confidence that I maybe can actually blog/post something useful.

If no-one "likes" your post - then I don't believe your rank will increase. I comment and post to try and be constructive, not to gain ranking points. Rank doesn't mean anything here - you don't get anything extra for being ranked 10 to being ranked 10,000.

I've not met anyone here that wants to promote themselves here - most people keep their websites "hidden" from other members here - so are not seeking fame or recognition from within the WA community.

All that said - this is an open community - and your opinion and mine may not always be the same - they may match 100% at other times - but that is what's great here - one post can prompt a discussion that can really help others add their view to that discussion, and counter the "I can't contribute" barrier.

All the best, Mark

Thanks for your comments.

For someone that can't write you did a very thorough job of getting your point across and I have to say I agree with most of it.

Ken, thanks for commenting.

Hi Ken - thank you.

Your comment is the type I'm talking about - I think what I write is basically c**p - I don't know how to properly construct a sentence or a post. My first website comment here was about how I put in too many commas and it didn't make sense from an English point of view - I just thought I was doing what they taught me at school, and couldn't see what I was doing wrong.

Please tell me which points you didn't agree with (you say you agree with most) - I love a debate. If you (anyone) lives in the UK, I try to take my lunch breaks around the time Jeremy Vine (NOT Jeremy Kyle!!!) is on Radio2 - he has a talk show with various topics each day - and I look forward to hearing points of view - I don't think it should be any different here.

Debbie has opened a debate - and I think it is healthy to talk about it. Not to take sides or win votes, but to just actually get a feel for what others think, and if that helps us get a varied opinion on what works and what doesn't, then that should help us all in deciding what content to put on our websites, or post on our blogs.

See what you've started Debbie :) All debate is good debate in my opinion.

All the best, Mark

Mark, my career was in law for over 28 years. Every day was debate and compromise. This is typical for me. Debbie

Hi Debbie - then you have opened up something that needs to be spoken about.

I don't know about you, but I hated people who "agreed" with me because they thought they should, or had to - and I had no interest in agreeing with managers who thought I should, because they were managers. This is not the army.

When I'm skidding into my deathbed do I want to be saying "I followed the one in front, and did what they said" just to make them happy? No, I want to look back and think that I did what I wanted, I followed advice, I embraced debate and in some cases changed my path because of it - Woooo what a ride that was!!

Cheers, Mark

Mark, thanks for all your comments. I had to stand up to judges and tell them how it was. You cannot appear to fearful because they will chew you up. So I stood my ground.

I still work for the law firm I left. My clients still call me. No such thing as moving to another country and escaping my career it seems. So all of you at WA are stuck with me.

Debbie

On review the only thing I disagree with is your statement that you can't write. Surely your prose may not be perfect but it's obvious that you try which is a plus to me and none of us really qualify as great writers.

Hi Ken - thank you, I appreciate that very much.

Cheers, Mark

Debbie - I'm afraid I don't entirely agree with you. Everyone has a personal blog space which they are entitled to use how they like within the few rules that there are at WA.

You may not find a quote inspiring but some members will. We have plenty of members where English isn't their first language, or members who are unsure how to express their ideas in the clearest way. They shouldn't be made to feel they should delete their blogs when they're trying to express something or trying to get an answer to a question.

Who is to be the judge over whether someone's blog is "beneficial to the community"? - Individuals. :) Beverley

I respect your comments. Thank you. Debbie
