Which direction do I go?

I'm currently pursuing a venture called Twisted Words where I come up with clever plays on words and then develop them into t-shirt designs. The challenge I'm finding is that I feel my attention and limited time being pulled too many of the other businesses I have started developing, but have made little progress on.

I have had a few big successes such as Cricut Direct which is now CraftDirect.com. My wife and I built the business from nothing and took it to a business doing millions in sales before we sold it. It is still doing well under the new ownership. We have also been successful in acquiring both commercial and residential real estate that is doing well.

Among the successes, there are a few failures as well. I made a failed attempt at video production with a company called Expedition Productions. I have a car wash that is still in business but requires a fair amount of time with little to no profit.

I feel like I have learned a lot and that there are some big successes ahead but I have so many ideas I'm really not sure which way to go. As a full-time school teacher, I have limited time to invest in projects, and yet my mind has pulled in so many directions.

The following is an incomplete worst of some of the ideas that have been developed at least to the point that I've created a website. If I included the ideas that I purchased a domain name for, the list could be much longer.

  • Sugoi Teaching- This website is designed to provide tips, advice, and product reviews for teachers.
  • Sugoi Creative- This website and YouTube channel I've been developed in order to showcase creativity and its many forms. It is also an outlet for my creative expression, primarily through video.
  • Sugoi Photo- This website and Instagram account were developed as a place to share my landscape photography. This is a project that I really enjoy, however, due to the abundance of talent and others, I don't really expect to make a lot of money in this endeavor.
  • Latter-Day GPS- I feel like true success in life has a spiritual base, and so I develop this blog in order to create a path for success that is based on gospel principles.
  • SugoiChoice- I am beginning to like review sites less and less because they rarely provide a clear answer to the question I am looking for. What I really want is a site that just tells me the best option for a given category. I would like to develop Sugoi Choice to be that kind of website.

there may be some people that their biggest challenge is to come up with an idea, however, this is not really an issue for me. I suspect that for most entrepreneurs the biggest challenge yes choosing which project you devote your time to. What I do know is that by keeping my time and mental energy divided between so many projects, I am not likely to be successful in any of them.

I tend to spend equal time in all my ventures when I can, Michael! It is a bit easier for me because I have been self employed for 30 years, and the only boss I have is me! Sometimes it works out and other times it doesn't, but each new day is a new adventure! I wish you well in all your endeavors, my friend!

Jeff

Thank you for your thoughts. I could probably be self-employed but I love my Teaching job, and I'm only a few years away from a pension. In reality, I have the time to decide because I'm really just trying to have a great business to go to in retirement.

Since you put it that way, it would seem that you are definitely on the right track, my friend!

Hi Michael,

Sounds like you've got banquet set out in front of you and you don't know which dish you'll pick first.

Some people eat the stuff they don't like first and leave the best till last.

Others will just dive in to what they like best and then leave unfinished morsels on their plate if they don't get through the whole meal.

When you look at all the options and consider how they might taste which one leaves you with thought that you'll probably want seconds.

I'd go with that one - the one that makes you hungry for more.

Hope this helps

All the best

Thank you for your thoughts!
