Am I Wrong To Change My Domain Name?
Am I Wrong To Change My Domain Name
That moment when you realize that its time to change your domain name…
Do you continue to use it and hope for the best, or do you take action and correct the problem to ensure a successful executed plan in the future. Me, I think I am going to take action and prepare for the best.
I honestly think lesson 7 should have been combined with Lesson 4, so that we can get a better picture of our niche as in knowing if we are targeting the right audience. I thought I was until I used Jaaxy and realized that the perfect audience for my niche is still out there.
Yes I did do what was asked for in lesson 4 and thought I had a good cherry spot, but unfortunately, I found a better spot, so the current domain name is not a good start for me to target this part of the market.
For Example
My current domain name and the new one that I want to replace it with means the same thing but are phrased differently and the audience comes out differently.
My Current Domain name has
Searches 4122 Traffic 225 QSR 372 produces a RED LIGHT! SEO 3
My New Domain name has
Searches 24386 Traffic 4146 QRS 225 produces a YELLOW LIGHT (OK) SEO 66 Domain name is taken but I will add one word from previous domain and its mine with my targeted Keyword (audience)
Now to dive deeper into this, after doing the full research in lesson 7 brings up my conclusion on the reviews of both domains.
Current Domain,
Requires lots of WORK
Less TRAFFIC
Lots of COMPETITION
Less Long Tail Keywords to start off with, which have low traffic
Less Content to Write or Blog about
New Domain
Requires Less Work than the one I own
Lots of TRAFFIC
Less COMPETITION
Lots of Long Tail Keywords to start off with and have high traffic
Lots of Content for my site to improve ranking and attract traffic
So for another investment of $13, I think it would be wise to take action and correct the problem before it actually happens.
I have a fully developed list of keywords for this new domain to start creating content for, with my current domain name, I was beginning to feel lost, seeing the low numbers for traffic, I’m talking about under 30 visitors a month for 1 word even if I rank #1.
Overall Conclusion is that the new domain name change, has a better conversion rate, and a better success rate.
So the question is “Am I Wrong To Change My Domain Name?”
What are Your Thoughts?

Keep in mind.. Domain name has NOTHING to do with ranking.. you could call your domain.. snails dot com.. and rank on google in page 1 for best tasting beef jerky.
People always confuse domain name with content and keywords.
You could take this as you posted:
Searches 24386 Traffic 4146 QRS 225 produces a YELLOW LIGHT (OK) SEO 66
and use it throughout your posts and you would still RANK. Content is key.
Hope that makes sense. You could still buy the new domain if you want.. But not necessary.
My 2 cents :)

Thanks for clarifying, I see what you saying, as long as I have the content that ranks, I can still target this traffic of 4146 with the same domain I already own. Which both are my niche but worded differently, but I still like the new domain better and it will be easier to connect it to my main site using it the new way. It will sound more relevant.
Thanks for clearing it up, just glad I found a bigger piece of the market. :)

Exactly!!! You got it. Domain name not super important. But is cool to go with one you like better. I feel ya.
Not at all. Sounds like you investigated the situation thoroughly and have come up with a more suitable alternative.
Thanks, after completing lesson 7 and doing a more depth research, I couldn't help but think that I need to change it....
