Distractions - The Gift of Shiny New Thing Syndrome
This piece is going to end in a challenge.
We have all been there; we get started on one simple task, and just like that, we get distracted. Everything is speeding up at the pace of AI. Can you keep up? ChatGPT, Image generators, Video Generators, platforms, and even Wealthy Affiliate itself are helping by adding distractions to your life.
A typical start to the two hours I allot myself. is going in with a plan. I am creating a Video about Skogsrå, the Scandinavian woman in their folklore, who lures hunters into the forest. She is beautiful on the outside, hollow when viewed from behind. There are two outcomes. You submit to her beauty and are trapped for eternity in her hollowness, never to return. Or you stay the course, and she rewards you with a bountiful hunt.
This story is a modern-day version of Shiny New Thing Syndrome. Distractions are everywhere. They will tempt you constantly. Follow the allure from one thing to the next and never finish what you started. Sort of like what I ran into this evening (morning), it's 1:30 am.
Easy enough. Create an image Front & Back. I have been using two, never in the same frame. When I put them together, one had a green background, while the other had a blue one.
The magic of Canva replaced the background on the first one. Did a little editing, and now these are two side by side.

I needed a simple talking head. It was going to be short. Got the script (via Grok). My reporter was about to do a news report on the lack of Bigfoot sightings in town. He left and is now a star all over the internet, and doesn't have time for appearances.
I jump over to Kling, the image generator, and find out that they have version 2.5 out.
Oh wow, let's check it out! Hey Grok, here is the update to Kling. What are the top things that are important in this new update? Got my answer and asked for another script. This time doing the Kling Video update.
With the 2.5 and reporter scripts in hand, I go to my preferred AVATAR creator, Tensor Art.
I am met with something that I have been looking for. 360° Room Video Generation. You can see where this is heading. Within TA, it is not a done-for-you setup like Kling, FreePik, Krea, et al. You take your clues from the prompts and repurpose them. So a luxurious gold-filled spa becomes a wood-floored, dusty old bar.
The central project that I am working on.
I learn by doing. This Bigfoot project is the "classroom" that I have created for myself. AI is slowly turning me into a cinematographer and video producer. Notice the image on the wall?
Anyway, time for my talking head scripts.
This is how I fulfilled my personal obligation of two hours in creation mode every day.
- Started a video project on Skogsrå, the Scandinavian folklore figure luring hunters, creating front and back images. Used Canva to align backgrounds (green to blue swap).
- Developed a short talking head script for a Bigfoot reporter news report, which evolved into an internet star dodging appearances.
- Explored Kling AI 2.5’s Elements update, identifying key upgrades (102% performance boost, selectable reference areas, manual brushing) with Grok’s help and created a demo script.
- Adapted to Tensor Art’s 360° Room Video Generator, repurposing a lavish spa prompt into a cinematic 360° walkthrough of a rustic bar scene using the uploaded bar image.
- Enhanced video production skills through hands-on AI tool use (Canva, Kling, Tensor Art), fulfilling a two-hour daily creation goal by 1:30 AM (now past 2:30 AM EDT).
- Drew parallels between Skogsrå’s lure and Shiny New Thing Syndrome, reflecting on distractions and personal growth in AI-driven cinematography.
- This Wealthy Affiliate Update.
Now, it’s your turn.

Oh wow, let's check it out! Hey Grok, here is the update to Kling. What are the top things that are important in this new update? Got my answer and asked for another script. This time doing the Kling Video update.
Good morning Donald,
It looks like you have been busy, I do find it absolutely amazing what AI can do!
Time goes extremely fast and it is so easy to have distractions, when we are in front of a computer. For me, the morning time, is the best time, I just feel so much more focused. If I get up too late, which is exceptionally unusual and rarely happens, I lose motivation quickly.
Setting the timer on my PC helps me to realise how quickly the time is ticking by, it's based on the Pomodoro technique. Although I don't use this technique fully, it helps to give me accountability and realise how quickly the time is going.
Wishing you a great day.
Roy
Thanks Roy, That means a lot. I know distractions happen in many forms. And your use of a time tells your brain that we are going to work through this and helpd to focus. Great system.
Stay consistant.
It's a pleasure, Donald!
I have even tried software, but to be fair, I seemed to spend more time playing around understanding how the software worked, that I gave up on it! So, it wasn't very productive. Sometimes simple is good!
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Roy
Whenever I hit the complex, WTF do I do now, I ask Lexi to simplify what I am looking at. CapCut is one of those. There is so much to learn about it that I needed the assistance. I am not a CapCut guru by any means, but I continue to learn more about it.
Hang in there and don't hesitate to ask your assistant.
MrDon
PS. I hope you enjoyed the intro video. CapCut!
AI is great for helping us be guided through complicated software, or software that we have never used before! I've never used CapCut, but I have heard lots about it, which suggests it's a very popular video editing software. I use Camtasia, but I'm told that these video editors all operate, in a similar way, but I believe it's good to use something that you are familiar with, hence why I stick with Camtasia.
These AI videos, Don, kind of amaze me, depending on what they are. If it's a review or something more serious, I like to see a human. However, your video did get the point across, which is the main thing.
Have a great weekend.
Roy
Weekends mean content creating crash courses, but thanks.
That sounds like a good thing to do, Donald! I like to spend my time wisely and that sounds good to me!
I hope all goes well.
Roy
