Balance Is Key At WA, And In Life
When I started with Wealthy Affiliates I wanted to get everything done at once. I wanted to rank #1 with Google with every blog I wrote, I wanted to be ranked high within WA and I wanted to start making money right away. That's just the mentality I was born and raised with.
I don't think I'm alone in thinking this way either. It seems that in our society today we all have this sense of urgency that makes us want things to happen right away. We seem to have lost all of our patience.
~ I want a new job, but I want to be the boss right now
~ I got a new computer and it's way too slow for me
~ I drove somewhere that normally takes 3 hours and it only took me 2 hours and 42 minutes
But we forget that sometimes the road that takes us places is what makes our destination so special in the first place. If we always started off with everything we wanted it wouldn't mean as much to us.
For this reason I've really concentrated on slowing down and enjoying the road that WA has laid in front of me. I'm not just writing blogs to get as many done as I can in a short period of time. Instead I'm writing (what I believe to be) quality blogs.
On top of that I am spending more time reading others' blogs and soaking in as much information as I can from people who have been doing this longer than me and have more and different experiences.
Slowing down in WA to enjoy the journey is not the only place I'm finding balance either. We only get one life to live (depending on your beliefs), so we need to focus on taking care of ourselves in the process. Take a break from life and watch/listen to a motivational speech, meditate, exercise, call or text a friend that you haven't communicated with in a while, play with your kids, etc.
If you're writing a blog or doing research for it and your brain is telling you it needs a break, don't be afraid to take a break. Stop for 10 minutes (or more) and listen to some music that you love and just stretch your muscles.
The point is, if you follow the WA program then the day will come when you are getting ranked high on google and making a lot of money from your website. But don't lose sight that life is happening at the same time.
If you are dedicated to putting in 10, 20, 30 hours or more in this business, then dedicate a certain amount of time to your own wellness and mindfulness. Enjoy the road you are on, it will only make the victory at the end that much sweeter!

Hi Marc. Totally agree with you on the balance thing. It is so important to have some downtime and time to reflect not only on your business but your life. And to listen to your instincts which are telling you when to take a break and when to work. If our 'work' become as chore, we associate negativitity to it and we are likely to find it harder and it will take longer. If we take a break when we need one, we can come back more refreshed and get things done in half the time!
That's why I've had a really lazy morning, playing computer games with my daughter - bliss!
Have fun. Gail
You'll get there, Marc! It just takes a little time!
