Reduce server response time
I'm really struggling with making my site load faster. I've tried every possible solution that I found inside the WA community.
- First I've reduced image sizes and quality (that was the only thing that actually helped a bit). The best I got was 72 for mobile and 83 for desktop.
- I tried installing many different plugins that should make pages load faster - every last one of those made it worse and slower. (PageSpeed Insights scores: 47 mobile and 53 desktop)
- using PageSpeed Insights I was able to assume that the biggest problem is server response time.
And it is totally weird, because it looks like I have no control over server response time. Sometimes PageSpeed Insights says server response time is 6.4 s, then checking again without making any changes to my site it get down to 0.8 s and everything in between. And I also checked it manually - it really loads fast sometimes but it can take a decade on some occasions.
Is that something that up to WA, since they're hosting my domain? Or with my theme?
I'm using Sugar & Spice by WebTuts. I'm also not ussing a lot of plugins (only 6: Akismet, All In One SEO Pack, Exclude Pages from Navigation, Google XML Sitemaps, Ultimate Social Media PLUS and WP-SpamShield).
Please help me, anybody.
I would really like to know if that's something I can improve (if yes, how???) or if it's not up to me at all. I really lost the whole day trying to fix that and it got me nowhere. :( It's totally frustrating.

You can delete Akismet and wp spam shield if your site is hosted on WA servers, as all spam related issues are being automatically removed. No need for spam plugin. Try to use one of the cache plugins W3 cache or WP fastest cache. Chech which one works with your theme. W3 cache is really good but I don't use it as it doesn't agree with my theme.
If you have a lot of images I recommend optimizing plugin like EWWW Image Optimizer. Don't be afraid of plugins. Most of us have around 15-20 :)

I did that before. And now again - before 70/81, after removing Social media 74/86.
So, I guess it helps a bit. But now is "fast loading time" for my site, on "slow loading time" I got 47/58 with Social media removed.
Are there any social media buttons plugins that don't affect loading speed.
Any other suggestions?
