Google Changes the goal posts again!!!

Google are at it again!  They are a pain in the bum.  Now they have changed everything so that social media get top priority.  The thoughts behind this being that the information on Facebook, twitter, etc is the most up to date.  Which is great but is the newest information necessarily the best?  I don't think so, just look at the rubbish on Facebook.  It's quality information I'm after when searching and sometimes the newest doesn't cover what I want.

Sigh!  Should we really chase google, is there a better way?  After all no one really knows what's in those algarithms anyway.

Google controls 80% of the market share, so naturally I tend to romance them heavily. Google and social media, they are a HUGE reason for my success.

Thanks for all your comments guys. I think I must be on the right track, i do the SEO and Tweet and link to FB. I think I will just stick to what I am doing and improve on that.

I have a slightly different take on this one. I agree with you about the rubbish on Facebook. And, like you, I don't think social media should get as much weight as it does...it's so ephemeral--the stuff written there is not intended to be strong content. However, I do find that Google's Twitter love can do some pretty wonderful things for traffic. I find Twitter fun--and I've really been surprised by what a difference it makes when I remember to tweet my links. Very little effort...sweet rewards.

Moonstone, Here's my take. I'm not chasing after Google. I feel the way you do about Social Media. Just going to keep content at a high quality level and forget about it. Yes, I'll do the SEO thing, but honestly, I can't get excited about Facebook.

well, I hope you can remove all those repeats! I apologize. I don't know what I did wrong! uh oh!

I am not going to do a whole lot different. I do have a facebook page and my senior blog is RSS'd into that. That seems to be the easiest way to handle the facebook thing. I rarely twitter anymore. Who has time for all of this? :)
