Why I Chose the Yearly Membership at Wealthy Affiliate I didn’t upgrade to the yearly membership at Wealthy Affiliate right away. I wanted to be sure this was something I was genuinely committed to, not just “trying out. Over time, it became clear that WA is built for long-term growth, not quick wins. The training focuses on real skills, consistency, and building assets that compound over time — and that requires patience. Choosing the yearly membership helped me: Stop thinking month to month Focus fully on learning and building Commit to the process without distractionIt also made sense financially, but more importantly, it aligned with how real online businesses are actually built. For me, upgrading yearly was a mindset shift — from experimenting to committing.Question for you:What helped you decide whether to stay monthly or go yearly?

I also went for the year plan. My decision was purely financial since it saves a bit of money over the monthly plan, and then, of course I was able to take advantage of Black Friday discount when I renewed my plan. Also, I use a certain credit card for only this one thing> Wealthy Affiliate membership.

That’s a smart move, Mac!
Going for the yearly plan is a great way to save, especially when you catch a Black Friday discount.
I also love that you use a dedicated card just for your WA membership—that’s a great way to stay organized and focused.
Thanks for sharing!

I was the same way Monica, when I joined WA back in 2013. In my opinion there are two great reasons for choosing the Yearly Membership. Actually three reasons.

1. In the long run it is cheaper. You always spend less, approximately two months worth less.

2. As you have said above, it stops the distraction of having to make sure you pay every month and keeps you focused on building your business.

Now here is the third reason and one that everyone who has been a yearly member for a while, enjoys.

3. The cost you pay for a yearly membership is grandfathered in when WA decides to make a price increase.

When I joined in 2013, I remained a free member for a month. Then I upgraded to Premium for $47.00 per month. There was no Premium Plus back then.

I was a monthly subscriber for two months. Then I heard about the Black Friday Yearly Membership Sale and that's when I became yearly.

Ever since November 2013 I have been paying $299.00 per year, even though Basic Premium Yearly is now $495.00, I'm grandfathered in at $299.

It is this third reason that I find the most beneficial, because if you are here for the long haul, prices are eventually going to go up.

3

I would like some of that $299 grandfathered price 😂😂😂

3

It's the reason I never upgraded to yearly Premium Plus. 😂

2

Do you have Kyle's phone number I want to get some of it 😂😂😂

3

Sorry. It's the advantage of being a member for 12+ years.

2

Lucky you Robert. Have a great day

3

If you are here for 10 or more years and the price of membership goes up. you will be grandfathered in at the price you pay now. Everyone gets grandfathered in at what they pay.

2

Good news then. Thanks

3

You are welcome. This is why I said the third reason going yearly is beneficial is being grandfathered in at the price you pay regardless of when the price increases.

Wow, thank you for sharing this, and what a great perspective! 🙌
I totally agree—those are excellent reasons to choose the yearly plan.
The grandfathering benefit is huge and often overlooked.
It’s one of the smartest long-term moves for anyone serious about building their business.
Thanks again for sharing your experience and insight!

It's very true; best wishes on your journey.

You are welcome Monica!

When I decided to go yearly it was after being monthly for two months. I was going to go yearly in November because I would have made my last $350.00 monthly car payment in October.

To my surprise, WA offered the Black Friday Yearly Sale. It was perfect timing and I took the deal for $299.00 per year. I knew it wouldn't be a problem and I was committed for the long term.

The BIG surprise happened when WA increased the cost of the yearly membership and Kyle said that members are grandfathered in to the cost they paid prior to the increase. That's a great perk!

I had a similar experience. After that initial 7 days I didn't feel like I had fully evaluated the platform, so I stayed Premium monthly for a few months. Then, a Black Friday sale happened and I took advantage of the opportunity to switch to yearly. I locked that in because I could see the real value in having a platform with everything in one place and the savings were definitely worth it. I went through a similar thought process with my recent upgrade to Premium Plus. I was getting much more value for a price very similar to what I was already paying.

2

Great perspective, Elyta. Taking the time to evaluate first and then upgrading when the value became clear is a smart approach. Locking in yearly during a sale and getting more value for a similar price really shows how one step at a time decisions can pay off in the long run.

2

Thanks, 100 % better to take the time and make a smart, informed decision.

1

Absolutely! Taking the time to make a thoughtful decision always pays off in the long run.

2

Same as you, Monica. Back in 2014 I received seven days free to try WA out, then nineteen dollars for the first month and forty-nine dollars/mo after that. The second month I went to the yearly offering and paid $299/year on a Black Friday special for years. That was for Premium WA.

I always looked at value versus price: website hosting, great training, and help when needed. Now with all the new additions in the past 18 months, yearly is an easy sell.

4

Thanks for sharing your journey! I love hearing how you evaluated value versus price—it’s such an important perspective. And yes, with all the new tools and training added recently, yearly really does make it easier to commit and focus on growth.

2

I think everyone has to do what is best for them.

When I joined WA I was able to pay for the year as I wanted to commit to it.

But on Black Friday I didn't have the funds to go Premium Plus+. Hopefully when another great offer comes around I will have the funds to join.

4

Absolutely! Everyone has to make the choice that works best for them. It’s great that you committed when the timing was right, and I’m sure another great offer will come around when you’re ready. You’re on the right track!

Thanks Monica
