Hello all

I hope this message finds you all well. I'm reaching out to share a concerning experience I had recently and to raise awareness about phishing scams that might affect our community.

In the early hours of the morning, I received a phishing message disguised as a notification from Meta. The message claimed to be a "Last Warning" and requested confirmation that my Face Book page was NOT being used normally and contained offensive and damaging content and in violation.... It included a link to click for confirmation.

Here are the key details of the phishing message:

  • Sender: Pretending to be Meta
  • Content: Last Warning, claiming to need page confirmation
  • Threat: Temporarily locking the page if not responded to within 24 hours

Important Response Steps:

  1. Do not click the link. Phishing links are designed to compromise your account.
  2. Verify directly with the platform. In my case, I reached out to Meta directly, and they confirmed it was a phishing attempt.
  3. Report the phishing attempt. Alert the platform immediately about any suspicious messages.

You can always report strange emails to phish@meta.com or phish@instagram.com (mailto:phish@instagram.com)

It's crucial to be vigilant and cautious with any unexpected messages, especially those that request sensitive information. Always verify the legitimacy of such messages directly with the platform, and never click on suspicious links.

Remember, our community's security is paramount. Feel free to share your experiences or insights on how to spot phishing attempts. Let's work together to keep our Wealthy Affiliate assets safe.

Stay vigilant, MollieP

I think that don't click on anything that causes suspicion. I am sure there will be ways for the crooked ones to slip in as a friend at some point. However, opening strange emails is a no win situation. Just like answereing unfamiliar phone number calls.
Thanks for the warning.

Hi Mollie,

Within a week, I received two messages similar to yours. I didn't waste my time checking them. I just reported them directly. I've had my Facebook account for too many years, and it's not the first time it is happened. It certainly won't be the last, either.

Diana.

If they would just their knowledge to do good instead of bad, think how much better off we would all be.

Good read and unfortunately this crap is everywhere. You got some great advice below and thanks for the awareness.

Phishing scams are everywhere unfortunately but It's great that you are raising awareness. Next time don't share the links though, wheres the logic? 🤣

The link was only partly shared, I deleted part of it just to give readers the idea of what they look like.

A phishing link can take many forms. Sharing doesn't do much I'm afraid.
