FINALLY found my keyword tool mojo!

Holy Moly what a process! For whatever reason it took my quite some time to get a hang of the keyword game. To help out others who are having a tough time with keywords you can use my process for your own benefit.

Here's the general idea:

1. FINDING KEYWORDS FOR YOUR TOPC

Assuming you have your topic idea start by putting the plain topic into the keyword tool. The idea here is NOT to use it as a keyword, but rather to see what pops up. You can use the alphabet soup method to get a better idea of a starting point for this step first.

Take a look at your results. Look for high searches, decent traffic, and check the QSR. I try to get keywords below 100 if possible. If they don't make sense in terms of grammar, add the missing words or spelling repairs and see how it impacts the QSR.

Never forget to click DIG just to see what happens!

2. THE OPPOSITES

You might have a short list of 2 or 3 decent keywords now. Great! But what other high ranking keywords are out there that only seem unrelated? Consider something like a wallet. You struggle to find more keywords that relate the "the best wallet" (which ranks highly btw). What about belts? What about something unique like "men's purse", or "muggings"?

These are words you can use in your writing that relate to your topic but don't stem from the same root word. Suddenly the possibilities for high ranking keywords explodes!

3. BIG NAMES

At this point consider some big name players. I wanted to write a post about playing movies on an iPad. Why not reference Netlix, Youtube, et al. ?

Even better, I tossed in opposites! "Netflix not working" has search: 4465, Traffic: 760. and QSR of 99!

SUMMARY:

So in not too much time I got a few keywords for my main topic but I also managed to throw in some heavy hitters at the same time. Think about tossing a pebble in the pond. The rings it makes are like the keyword hunt. Sometimes just step back and think bigger, like the second, wider, set of rings in the water. Ask yourself: "What things are in the same general topic as my niche post?".

Lastly, always consider the evergreens: health, wealth, and love. These will always have some high ranking keyword fodder to play with.

Home this was helpful!

If I have time I will add pictures. Thanks!

So, What I don't understand.. Are all those keywords used in the whole article, or only searched for in the title? If they are used both in the title and article, would the keywords used in the article be ranked that easy as well (assuming that that specific keyword in the article has good parameters)? Sorry for my english, I'm not a native speaker ;)

Thanks in advance!
Nico
