Don't want to pay extra for Akismet!
So, I guess I have to create a new blog every time that I want to post, as I don't see the option to just add a new post to whatever current blog that I have going. That's ok though, because I don't think anyone reads these things anyway. I'm really doing this for myself, as a kind of motivational tool, and so that I can look back and say "this is what was going through my mind when I started out.
I got stuck on day two of the thirty day training program here. I posted somewhere in the forums about Akismet, which I believe is an anti-spam plugin for wordpress. I didn't want to, but I believe I have to pay like $36 a year for it, and I keep seeing posts for it that say that there is a free version. I just don't get it. I didn't see where the free version was on their site, and no one got back to me when I posted in the forums, even though I saw some other people who had the same problem. I had to put in my Paypal info to sign up for it or whatever, but they haven't charged me yet. Hopefully they never will! lol.

It is so easy to overlook details. I have been in the 30/30 Article Challenge for 12 days now...and just found where the emails have been going. I totally missed the fact that joining through FB would cause them to wind up in my email account associated with FB. I was having them PM'd to me day by day. There they are on that email account, pretty as can be...unopened.
When you go to the akismet site, there is a slide bar that you can move to increase or decrease the cost. Just slide it all the way to the left until it shows a frowny face and zero dollars. It's under a comment about how much Akismet is worth to you per year. Once you set that to zero, just go ahead and check out - you'll get your key and can insert it where it goes in the plug in.
