We Need to be Better Friends with Our Readers!
I hate going to websites where I feel unimportant and left out. Some people put too much energy into making their website line up with the visions in their head and forget about the consumer. In addition to things like ease of navigation and readability, as website owners, we need to be better friends with our readers, and treat them like they matter.
I've always disliked the spam that accompanies a lot of work from home jobs and start up companies. And, I worried that sharing my affiliate links with people, outside of my website, would be like spamming them. But then I made a decision. I share my links with people to get them to my website (and to get them here) because I want them to be a part of this. I want to see everyone whose dream is to work at home, succeed.
Why do I feel so connected to my audience? Because I am them. We all are. We are consumers at every other website we visit. Do you read a new site? You're a consumer of that news. Do you shop online? Do you have a facebook page? Regardless of what sites you visit, you're a consumer of some sort. And I want all of the websites and companies that I interact with to be looking out for my best interest, so why wouldn't I do the same thing?

You're so right. Your customers need to feel a connection with you. Relationships are important.
Thanks. I am building a site that counts on connecting with viewers but you have helped me focus on some weak area's
Such an insightful post and you are so right. Thank you for reminding us that we are our readers.
Best,

You are so right. Ive been concentrating on my website and not answering my emails from the different sites.
Great points. You definitely do not want to discourage readers by having a site that is hard to navigate through. We should treat readers as if they really did matter. Keep up the great work :) I really enjoy reading some of your material because you do focus on the reader, and try your best to keep them interested.
